hiya...
big fight-game fan... but, stuck at work...
anyone who's watching this one tonight, please, if willing, provide a round by round?
I admire James Tony... He's come all the way back, going up in weight class, and has actually become a better boxer than he was at middleweight... Rooting for him here...

Are you serious?
I will say this...here is the result: Majority draw...one judge had rachman winning 117-111, the other two had it 114-114. Nobody with eye sight thought Toney won....and I would say that if you polled those with teh power of sight...that 99% would have said that rachman WON. It was a wacky decision.
"Toney is a fat tub of goo".....(Jim Lampley ACTUALLY introduced him like that).

technically, from a pure boxing sense, i do believe Tony is better now...
certainly not the athlete he used to be, and not in very good shape, but he fights a smarter game now than when he lost to Roy 10+ years ago...

Well...as for boxing IQ...I agree with you...he is a much smarter fighter now....
I just don't sympathized that much with out of shape boxers.

I heard Toney weighed in at 237 and most of it was in his belly. Wow. Not sure how he's going to win the heavyweight belt looking like he's 7 months pregnant.

I hope he wears a red robe to his next fight. Then they could introduce him with "Hey Kool-Aid!!!!!"
Its a shame cause Toney is clearly the more skilled fighter. But he was gassed after the 4th rd. I think its a mistake for him to have moved up in weight class. He was obviously a smaller fighter. Even when he'd hit Rahman flush it seemed to have little effect. The scoring was biased. Rahman won 8 9 10 11 easily, and i think they split the first 6 if not Rahman was leading by one. Rahman clearly won the fight yet 2 judges had the fight a draw. Bogus.

I like Rahman a lot; mostly because Rochester, NY is sort of his adopted home town. He trains here a lot and has a promotional staff up here. 2 years ago, he headlined a boxing card here that was a pretty big event. So, he's as close to a hometown fighter as we're going to get from here. So, good for him, I hope he unifies the heavyweight title. (Obviously, I'm not holding my breath.)

I don't mind Rahman but I was pulling for Toney. That said i'm not blind to who should have won the fight on the score cards.
