I'm in the Goron Mines, and my shield burned up. I continued and ended up buying a wooden one. Will I ever be able to get the shield you start with that's blue and looks like steel? Or am I stuck with the wooden one the rest of the way?

Go to the shop in Kakariko Village and you can purchase it for 200 rupees if I remember right.
