Animated GIFs

Can someone please point me in the right direction in regards to creating Animated GIFs. I googled to no avail.

I have many Dolphin games in AVI format, and could make some crazy gifs.

I dont know what programs to use, nothing. Im basically starting from scratch. Any help would be appreciated.

I can make my own in imageready, but it is rather tedious.
