Rumors were running wild that Namco dropped the PS3 version of Beautiful Katamari and made it for the Wii instead... This site reports that Famitsu confirms it.

The rumors have come true as Famitsu has confirmed that Beautiful Katamari has been cancelled for the PS3 and is heading to the Nintendo Wii (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. This news is sure to disappoint many fan as the PlayStation 2 (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) is where the Katamari franchise was born to begin with. Namco reportedly had programming problems with the PS3 version which is what is being blamed for the cancellation.
I was never a huge Katamari fan, but my roommate thinks it's the greatest thing evar.

I loved both Katamari games on PS2.

This news is surprising though. I kind of figured Wii would get a port, with the Wii-mote practically begging for a game like this and Nintendo's sales dominance in Japan, but the Sixaxis controller would probably work just as well with a Katamari game. And seeing how Xbox 360 penetration is practically nil in Japan, it's interesting they shelved the PS3 version, when this game is so Japanese influenced.

The "programming problems" is kind of a weak excuse for Namco though. They should just come right out and say the PS3 maketshare is too low and they wanna make money.
