Police and Waukegan High School officials are investigating alleged smoking of marijuana by a teacher during school hours Tuesday.
The teacher, whose name was not disclosed, has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation, said Waukegan Schools Superintendent Donaldo Batiste.
The teacher was in a bathroom at Waukegan High School Upper Grade Center when another employee saw her smoking marijuana and reported it to school officials.
Police are not commenting because no charges have been filed.
The teacher reportedly teaches mathematics and will continue to be paid while on leave.
"An employee is said to have witnessed the incident and we picked up the remains of what appears to be marijuana," Batiste said.
