The cost of mailing a letter goes up a penny to 42 cents on Monday, the latest in what are expected to be annual price adjustments by the Postal Service.
A new law regulating the post office makes it easier to raise rates as long as the agency doesn't exceed the rate of inflation. Rates are to be adjusted each May.

Well with online bill paying and so forth, the postal service will be obsolete soon as far as regular stamped mail is concerned.

stamps are used for more than just paying bills..this is one of the most ridiculous things the government is doing...

Getting a piece of mail delivered to anywhere in the country for 42 cents... not a bad deal.

Arrrgh ... just bought a damn book of stamps last week. Now I've gotta go buy a bunch of penny stamps to go with 'em ... What a pain in the arse. I mean seriously, a freaking penny???

and it costs the government more than .01 to make that penny, so it is a net loss for the government and a loss of time for you. everyone loses.:rolleyes2:
