What band, album, or song has gotten your attention lately?
Recently, I have been listening to a band called The Kills a lot. I had always known who they were, but now that one of the members has joined Jack White's new band, I thought I would give them another listen to. I am happy that I did.

Hmm. Wiki says they are a mix between Death Cab for Cutie and Arcade Fire. I don't love either band, but they have their moments, so I will have to check it out.
When did Kings of Leon become famous? I must have been sleeping.

I have always loved to have bands to myself. Slowly, Yo La Tengo are becoming popular.
The Moldy Peaches were mine until the movie Juno came out. Fifteen year old girls that would never listen to them were suddenly singing their songs.

i hear ya - there's been quite a few bands i've loved before they got famous - when i was still playing music we used to get early copies of everything before they blew up - rage against the machine, pantera, ben harper, even dave matthews - we used to watch him play clubs before his 1st album broke - seal was another guy who was great when he put out his 1st album - mother love bone when andy wood was still alive - supergrass...

Right now I'm listening to Colin Cowherd's show from yesterday morning. I listen every night while I'm at work.
Music wise, I currently have H20 - Nothing to Prove on repeat in the car for all of my old school Punk guys.
Nothing to Prove is their new album released last year but it's still the same ol' H20 style. The philosophies of Punk are loaded in this album.

I've been listening to "The Tallest Man on Earth"... strange... it's like apocalyptic bluegrass? (not a good description, but derived from the instrument choices the artist makes) made by a guy from Sweden.... It is awesome.

I don't really see the comparison to Death Cab for Cutie personally, except for the fact that they are both mellow indie rock. That's still too broad of a category though. The only other band that they remind me of is another obscure group called Carissa's Wierd....

Cornell's 'Scream' is brilliant, even if its a major deviation from his Soundgarden and Audioslave work. Problem is that if you are really into the Soundgarden sound, then his solo stuff is going to be way too funky... album's produced by King HipHop Timbaland.
There's a killer track, almost in Indian bhangra style, called 'Take me alive' which reminds me a lot of Aerosmith's 'Nine Lives'.

I like everything, or try to... and I thought the album was awful... it is forced and contrived, and well, downright hokey sounding... Granted, this is my flawed opinion, but I thought it was a terrible album...

Whoa!! Cornell's solo stuff, in particular the last "Timbaland" effort is dire. I was/am a big fan of Soundgarden. Cornell has become a joke and is slowly but surely ruining the legacy of Soundgarden.
It's a pity that he has chosen to go in that direction..but I suppose he wants the cash and is trying to reach a wider audience. I think all that will happen is that he will lose his old audience and be left with no fans at all.

I see your point, but in another way at looking at is
cashing in would be doing a reunion tour with soundgarden & or audioslave..
that is the REAL CASH GRAB.
taking chances takes balls.
Robert plant did that album with alison K. {bluegrass folky album}
which is great & he won't do a reunion with led zep
is he a sellout

Wait wait wait, please tell me since when has Cornell had fans? Soundgarden had fans, Audioslave was CRAP. I loved SG, and I loved RATM, but Audioslave was a slap in the face of good music. Cornell is a dbag that kills the bands he joins. Hence the reason Soundgarden broke up. lol.
