The Texas school board has tentatively voted to scrap a 20-year requirement that public school students discuss the “strengths and weaknesses” of evolution and Darwin's theory of the origin of life, the Houston Chronicle reports. If adopted in a final vote today, the new science curriculum standards will take effect with the 2010-2011 school year and last a decade. The Chronicle calls the move a "setback for critics of evolution."
