An Oregon company has ordered new packaging for its Peace Cereal after a typo on the box sent callers to a phone sex line instead of the cereal maker's 800 number. Instead of reaching Golden Temple of Oregon, callers were greeted by a recorded voice asking, "Do you love sex? ... Isn't that why you called?"

I never understood why they have a number you can call. It usually says "Questions/Comments, call 1-800-XXX-XXXX."

What can you possibly need to say to a cereal company?

Should I use 2%, whole, skim or fat free milk to get the best flavor from my cereal.

800 numbers that dont get a lot of traffic most likely go to a Call Center that handles Inbound contacts for a wide variety of companies. I doubt the agents who answer that number only handle that traffic.

Or could be some guy in his basement

They have them in case the food has a problem. For example, I bought a bag of chips with bugs in it. Luckily I found them before I ate any. I called the company, and they sent me a new bag. I could have gone back to the store, but I had the number so I called.
