Wow, life is crazy....top (sort of) pick by a team with no QB's, the coach loves you then your coach gets fired, they draft at your position 2 years in a row, and then you are a goner.
The kid just looked scared as soon as he got the rock, like he never saw big, ugly, hungry D-lineman before. I hope he wakes up and does well and no disrespect, but he could never command the leadership of a Dolphins team....wayyyyyy to soft and scary for Parcells. ZERO respect.

I mean this in all sincerity. I hate being right sometimes. It give me no thrill to know we wasted a second round pick on Beck. Hell I feel the same way about the Pat White pick so I am definately not going to throw a party. Baltimore? After the trifecta drafted Henne I posted tha Beck would never have a fair shot at QB, and while I think Henne is way much better I still think next year we are going to land a QB if we decide to part ways with Pennington, cause White is an amazing option as a Wildcat QB or on red-zone situations, but I think we still need someone behind Henne for the future. Next casualties are going to be Wright (whom I think is better than Starks), Soliali (he is BAD) and Wilford (Big mistake by the trifecta).

Why do so many of you not seem to understand that John Beck is not a backup QB?
To be a backup QB you have to be.....you know.....at least decent. If youre a primary backup, teams are counting on you to get the job done if the starter is injured, and that may be a long stretch of games.
No one is going to sign Beck to be a backup. 3rd stringer at best. If Beck were good enough to be a backup somewhere, we wouldnt be cutting the guy. Think for one second.
Whats really bad is there actually are people who think this bum could start for an NFL team.

He can be part of a new formation for a practice squad drill. The fumble-itis drill where the QB fumbles every snap and the DE end tries to grab the ball off the ground and run it in for a TD.

WV's post are not going to be as entertaining now!
With experienced free agents like Rex Grossman and J.P. Losman available, why trade for an unexperienced player who is the same age? Drafting Pat White made that even harder.
Man, Cameron's draft is a mess. Soliai dodged a bullet in the draft, but Brandon Fields might be gone because of Bond. Ginn is the only reliable one left, and even he has been pedestrian considering we took him ninth overall.

2 years later, you got your wish.
i never really saw much in Beck from the start. Sure, he had a strong arm, could throw it deep. I know a lot of 16 year olds who can too. But can he read defenses? Can he elude pressure? Can he be a leader in the huddle? These are obvious questions CamMueller failed to consider. IF they did, they wouldve known to pass on Beck, who never even faced a stout defense in college. If anything, it seemed that one thing that Cam was intrigued with was, well, character. Yeah, Im sure hes a nice guy. That doesnt make a good football player. The Mormon connection cannot be ignored either. Most of Cam's players led LDS-inspired lives. Not that theres anything wrong with that, Steve Young turned out to be a pretty damn good QB. But that was because he actually had the skills and tools to be a pro. He was more than a nice guy. Beck didnt have any of those qualities needed to lead a pro team. How could he possibly manage egos on the offensive side of the ball, especially if we brought in a big-headed WR down the line, or a hardheaded T? Marino could do so. Manning can do so. All the good Qbs have leadership skills. Beck looked like a deer-in-headlights the whole time. There was no possible way for Beck to be successful with the Miami Dolphins. And now, I wish him the best, but Ill gladly move on from a waste of a pick.

I say White becomes as 2nd string QB... NEXT year behind Henne. I believe Henne is more of a Parcells kind of QB. I still say that White lines up as a receiver or 'utility' player this year. I'd be totally surprised to see him as a 3rd stringer with his "skillset"

Sure he has. He blows. Then he makes like 4 catches on the season when the phins are using receivers ahead of him that arent necessarily all pro's. Yet, some people around here seem to just know that this guy is gold and will be a project turned into ****ing Andre Johnson.
Brandon London blows, and its his duty to come on here once the worship of him gets out of hand on FH, and just tell everyone he blows. Otherwise he is open to a spot on the WVDolphan chart o' bash.:thanks:

If left to roam free, people who dont seem to understand the league will come on and start suggesting guys like Beck, London, Culpepper, and Jason Allen are players. Its up to someone to speak the truth to the lost. Its like how we need police, the senses to keep us from hurting ourselves, or superheros.

But, wtf am I going to do once BP cuts Allen, London, and Wilford????? He is going to get rid of all the ****ty players so that I have no one on the team to kick around. Ahhhhh the drawbacks of hiring someone to run the team that knows what they are doing.
I guess were going to just have to win super bowls and have no players on the team that blow. Which is really a lot better anyways. A fun time will be had by all.

The guy didn't choose to come here as a 2nd round pick...from all accounts worked his *** off while he was here....so he sucked, not a reason to celebrate his demise. Dude just lost his job, maybe his career, and you all act like a bunch of fools.

Oh please, save your holier than thou speech for other idiots who will buy it.
The guy was making millions of dollars to work out at the gym, study playbooks, hold a clipboard on the sidelines, and practice tossing around a football. He isn't the first to get cut by a team and he seemed like a smart enough guy that I'm sure he won't be living under a bridge any time soon.
He seemed like a good kid but we as fans have a right to judge him as a player. This is a business and he sucked at it. So no, I don't feel bad at all.

What can I say about John Beck... He was once reverred as "The Stormin' Mormon" and was hoped to be the next Marino.
He was neither of these (unless by stormin', you mean out of the room) and accomplished very little as a Dolphins QB but one thing that he did do is take a whole lot of crap from a lot of people who never met him, never talked to him, and never saw him play with a real team around him.
With that said, I don't believe he would have been a quality starting QB for the Dolphins regardless of the team around him. He was hard working, which was good for the team to see and he never gave up his hopes to play for us. Bless his mormon soul and I hope he doesn't go anywhere where he can beat us... ever!
I hope Beck will never be mentioned on these boards again.... an annoying as hell topic!

Yea because he lost the first 12 games in a row. The whole team sucked genius.. next
Wrong again. Are you suggesting Ronnie Brown, Vernon Carey and many others who are still on the team suck? Thats what your post clearly states.
Let me tell you something. John Beck SUCKS. And it would be nice for those of you who still blow him to just admit he sucks without following it up with a bashing of that entire 07 team. You can never just say flat out and alone.......John Beck sucks. Period. And its the truth.
Also, John Beck was by far the worst player on that team in 07 and made it a lot worse than it was. Cleo Lemon also blew very much. You see that was the main reason that team sucked and went 1-15........HORRIBLE QB play. And it was the worst with Beck and pretty ****ing bad with Lemon. We basically had less than 3rd string caliber QBs STARTING. That hurts your chances ya know... And it makes every other player on the team look a lot worse than they actually were. There were some decent players on that team and several of them still are on our team.
With Trent Green not getting injured, that team wins 5 or 6 games. Thats just reality. He certainly didnt play well, but he was decent and at least respectable as an NFL QB. Of the 6 games we lost by 3 points, 3 of them came the 5 games he started and we actually shouldve won 2 of those games and they certainly werent his fault. Booker killed us in that Washington game with drops and Ronnie couldnt run at all. We also couldnt stop them from running it on us. The team wouldve gotten a little better as the year went on without the Green injury and a few more wins wouldve come out of it.

I figured that I would help save some time for those that LOVED John Dalton Beck-
Dear Daunte err umm, John:
This is just one fans opinion, but keep your head up bro. Not everyone agrees with the way the Dolphins handled you and your situation. I for one do not feel much pride in this team with this situation, I think it was classless the way it was handled and I think you deserve better, all players that have the love and respect of their teammates desreve better and you had that with this team.
I hope your next stop is a good one and you return to form. You deserve it because of the hard work and the hart you've shown (since this injury) since playing so badly. I also want to thank you for holding that heavy clipboard (wanting to help this team succeed and wanting to be a Dolphin.) Even though you came back to soon and that decision probably cost you your future in Miami, I know you did so because you're a competitor and you want to succeed as much as any player on this team, including the pressure to win you faced in you decisions.
I'll root for you wherever you land, I think there are some serious flaws in NFL circles and sometimes the good guy's lose. I also have no problem with you forcing your release, there has to be some sorta of consequence for the treatment you've endored the last few months since the new coaching staff arrived and you aren't the only player to suffer such poor treatment around the league. I sat and watched Cam Cameron err umm, Jeff Ireland (state with my own eyes and ears he wouldn't evaluate any player till they were a 100%) say he had 3 terrific Quarterbacks, he obviously didn't mean you cause he obviously never intented on giving you that chance, even though the conversation at the time was about you.
I still love my team, but I just wanted you to know that not everything that happens with this team is something I'm proud to be a part of or watch.
Just like when players do things wrong or make mistakes and the organization feels the need to seperate themselves and their actions or intentions from a players, I feel the need to do the same with this team at this time. I care more about the players then some individuals within the FO and more specifically the coaching staff at this point in time.
Stay strong Bro and thanks again for the effort, you're a class act.

You think he will add a new demension. You don't know. ALso Henne is not a stud. You think he is a stud. No proof on either counts. Show me some game tape in real games on either White or Henne(opps sorry) neither one has played any significant time to even evaluate them. SO save us the predications of our (three terrific QB's). Only one of them has proven anything in a meaningful nfl football game and his name is CHad Pennington.

It's not about that for some fans. Honor, integrity, hard work, sacrifice are not important as long as you play well. If beck was lights out good none of these clowns would even care if he was the biggest scum bag on earth. You can't blame Beck, he did what players do. He tried. Classless fans want a winner above all else. None of the qualities like those mentioned earlier matter. Performance=love. While performance is the most important thing it is not the only thing.

Good grief dude I bet you like to play with barbie dolls too....
It's the NATIONAL ****ING FOOTBALL LEAGUE....where you get PAID MONEY to PERFORM a JOB.....
If you can't do it.......you're no longer in the NATIONAL ****ING FOOTBALL LEAGUE.....you go and apply those wonderful traits you have in a field where they'll actually benefit you...

Say what you want about his abilities on the field, but one of the reasons he stayed around so long was because he was a smart guy and a hard worker.
I'm sure he knew his stuff, maybe he couldnt execute it, but he knew it.
I totally disagree. Not that he isnt smart or a hard worker.....I think he is both.
However, IMHO those arent 2 of the reasons he stayed around till today. In fact, I feel there was only ONE reason he stayed around past last summer............
.......The Panthers offered us a draft pick for McCowns services. If anyone had offered a 7th round pick for Beck back then, he wouldve been gone and McCown wouldve stayed. In fact I feel as if we were offered a deal for both, they wouldve traded Beck and kept McCown. I will go as far to say if we were offered a 6th for McCown or a 7th for Beck, we wouldve taken the 7th for Beck and kept McCown.
I also will suggest that if we had not gotten an offer for either, then Beck wouldve been flat out released and McCown wouldve stayed.
Really this isnt just opinion, its just plain true. Reality is Beck was available from going back to last year before the draft. Reality is, he had no value and no one wanted to offer so much as a 7th round pick for him even last March. Thats just the truth.
And that my friend, is the reason Beck stayed here so long. Nothing more, nothing less. It had nothing to do with his character, work ethic, or suggested intelligence.
Beck is a horrible QB who will never succeed in the NFL and thats just the facts. No one had any value on him and its quite likely he may not find work in the NFL as a 3rd stringer. He may get an offer from someone to come in as a potential 3rd stringer, perhaps even as a 4th guy in a camp. A team may look. But, I wouldnt be shocked that if he does sign somewhere, he gets released before the season.

I think we need a John Beck memorial thread started in the depths.
Think about it. John Beck was the reason behind alot of good times here at FH. I think we owe him at least that just for what he meant here at FH. Seriously, how many good laughs have you had over the past 2 years thanks to the combination of John Beck and FH?
The John Beck memorial thread. Depths of the sea, and at least one person must post in it every 3 days. The man is just too epic for anything less. Aside from RDS, there has been no one more signifigant to FH.
And hell, had it not been for John Beck, Vaark wouldnt have been able to remind everyone that anyone who bashes Beck is morally inferior to him, nor could he have shown off his superior grammar and photoshopping skills that brought him the first ever Poster or the Year award.
Alot is owed to John Beck. A memorial thread is the least we can do.

Agreed....the subject of John Beck has been the cause and focus of many, many laughs around here....and all of us that didn't succumb to his boyish charm and feline football nature....or subscribe to the theory that the reason he was STILL HERE was because of how valued he was by the front office because we had "three terrific quarterbacks"....well....I guess we all learned a valuable lesson here....

Can you just one time offer a football opinion or some insight of ANY kind? Are you capable?
Or are you just going to continue to make funny little pictures, use grammar as if we are holding a cabinet meeting in the white house, and make backhanded, snide, insults at posters who actually talk about football and you disagree with their opinion?
Even if its just so much as to say you think player Z sucks and player A is good, offer something. You dont even have to try and pretend you know anything about the game and go into detail like a lot of us do. After all, you are the Poster of the Year.
As it stands now, its as if a baseball team winning the world series with their bat boy as the MVP. Or actually, the mascot would be more fitting, seeing as the mascot is a mere clown who goofs with the fan and sometimes insults them. Hell, you already have the costume. The Miami Vaark.

How much money if any we save.
Not much....
The move does have a saving grace in that it saves the Dolphins approximately $120,000 in cap space, although they will now carry the accelaration of Beck's original signing bonus on their books. That acceleration will be about $800,000. Beck's 2009 cap number was scheduled to be approximately $918,900 before he got cut.

I am still of the opinion that they guy hasn't had the opportunity to show whether he blows or not. If he was so terrible, he could have been released last year based on his cap number. Competition is ALWAYS a good thing. No clue as to who comes out of that competition but whoever it is will be better off from it. I think a lot of teams make a mistake when they draft a rookie QB and automatically dub him as "the guy" without any kind of backup plan. I love that Parcells and Co. are hedging their bets.

I wish JB the best. He IMO would do well in a pass happy West coast offense. That means Seattle or Philly. I know he could beat that hack AJ Feeley.
Seattle would be tougher but Hasselbeck is getting older but seems to spend more and more time on IR.
In a move of supreme irony, What if Beck signs w/ the Browns and it means the end of Drama Quinn in Celeveland??
Do you honestly think Beck could beat out Seneca Wallace in Seattle for the backup position? Hell, I have my doubts he could beat out freakin Charlie Frye for the right to hold the clipboard.

I agree. Im one poster who doesnt really believe they drafted Pat White to play qb for the Phins, but again, Jeff Ireland isnt going to come out and state that. White himself was quoted as saying the Wildcat is his best chance to see the field quickly. I hope a problem doesnt arise in the future, because Pat White thinks of himself as a pure qb and I get the sense he is less than thrilled being drafted to run the gimmick stuff.

The same Brady Quinn who hasn't done anything in the NFL...just like Beck?
Brady Quinn is just as much garbage as Beck is. The people who hold on to memories of Quinn past are worse than the Beck jock strappers.
I did not get on this thread to bash anybody but surely you jest.Did Quinn just get cut, because I did not hear anyhing. Quinn is still in the mix to be a starter which is where he should be at his point in his career. There is a big differance between getting cut and in the mix for the starters job. At this point there is no comparism. Beck is in the unemployement line.

And yet his offense was able to do enough to beat MIA.
Hate on Beck...I guess Ginn is the next to go. He is a Cam product.
Actually I think his team's defense just beat the crap out of us. The Ravens at that point were a much more talented team than our Dolphins. We're still feeling the effects of years of bad Wannstache/Cameron drafts. The Ravens didn't beat us do to Cameron's special offensive magic. They beat us because they had more talented players and one of the best overall teams in the league. We were average at best who overachieved. I think we got a lot better this offseason and would be able to play them on a more equal basis.

LIKE CHILD CARE!!!
I told you guys this dork would be out of the league before he lost his virginity.....
Character matters. So does talent. Dude don't even go there. I have nothing to worry about from your childish moronic attacks. I don't need or want your approval. GO pound sand Sir,
I believe some here value performance over everything.
No other attribute matters.
I would rather have a group of character guys, overacheving tough guys than a bunch of thug premadonnas with pro bowl resumes.
If you want to debate the issue and come up to the grown up room, come on up, but save the childish insults dude.
BTW Beck is married and has a kid. I'm sure his is glad your interested in his sex life.

Ethan Skolnick of the Sun-Sentinel had a blog last night titled "John Beck freed." Well, I look at it more as if Miami is free from John Beck. Freed away from a crappy quarterback. Freed from a square from BYU who has absolutely zero swagger. Freed from his Howdy Doody attitude that would never be able to win the respect and admiration of his teammates. My friends, Miami just became a little bit better by cutting this dead weight.

I wish him the best, he was thrown into a bad situation. I am sure he'll end up being a 3rd QB somewhere.
I can't feel to bad for him, he made millions more being selected too early in the draft by Cam.

WOW,
Were do we start with this Pile of Steaming Excrement?
"square from BYU"
This seems to indicate a bias against Mormon's or maybe people of traditional Christan or Moral values.
Also shows and immaturity level probably stemming from feelings of deep seated sence of failure in life.
Obviously needs to belittle others to make himself feel better.
"Howdy Doody attitude"
I never watched the show so I can only comment on the cultural significance of the reference.
This most likely is a variation on the square comment.
This implies Beck is one of those goofy squares who are Christains or of tradional values. Who spend all their time praying and helping people. It implies he is not a man and has no balls. I probably couldn't last against a nfl rush any better than Beck did, but That dosen't mean I'm not a man. it also implies rather they should be out beating their girl friend and going out to bars all night. Because being a hellraiser means your tough.
You want to know what tough is?
talk to me about haveing to goto work on a midnight shift with streap throat coughing up blood to feed my kids because if I stayed home from work my kids wouldn't have food that week.
Talk to me about having three jobs at the same time.
get up 3am work from 4 am to 4pm 6 days a week
When it is all said and done this NFL Bull**** means nothing in the real world.
I'm sure Beck is real distraught you bashed his values on a internet forum.

Beck's inability to stick with this team has nothing to so with his faith but while I think perception isn't reality he needed to grow a pair from the get-go and should have stated this is my job and I want in now...
But he seemed comfortable with sitting and watching..., and from my limited experience in life I have watched people fly by me in various aspects who had more jam than me... Now I can sit and whine or stand up for myself..., choice is mine and the choice is John Becks

Your right about grabbing life by the balls.
I'm not sure if I like rookies talking in the media much. I would rather they shut up an litsen. It is a fine line you to walk with the media these days.
stand up for your self and your a arrogant premadonna. On the other side if you don't show some moxie outwardly people think your soft.
Media realtions shouldn't have anything to do with it.
But perseptions can become reality with some even if there is no basis for it.
Welcome to the NFL Pat White.

That's what I never saw in Beck, and that's what I have always had a problem with. I never saw that fire, the attitude, the passion, the swagger that comes with wanting to be THE MAN. Beck always seemed to be on an even keel, happy and content with where he was. Call me crazy, but is that the attitude and temperment you want too see from your starting quarterback?
I'll give you a good example of what Beck should've been and needs to become. A couple a years ago, a 37 year old Kurt Warner was mocked when he said "Why can't a 37 year old quarterback become the face of a franchise?" Kurt was brushed off, nobody thought much of it because people believed Leinert was the future. Well, instead of just being happy with where he was and being content on living off past accomplishments, Kurt did something about it, and won the starting job in Arizona. Led the franchise to it's first Super Bowl appearance and cementing his Hall of Fame legacy. The best part? He's not done yet.
That's what I don't see from Beck, and if he wants to have any success in the NFL he needs to grow a pair and show that he can indeed get it done. Until Beck finds that desire within, he's destined for mediocrity.

So what word would you use then to describe posters who believe everything Jeff Ireland says, and take everything he says literally. Posters who laugh at others when told not to believe everything they hear. What word would you reserve for those types, who btw are nowhere to be seen now.

It's funny, when Jeff Ireland made the statement that Miami has "three terrific quarterbacks." It was funny how the Pro Beck contingent took it and ran with it. "Hey X, you see.... Jeff Ireland said we have 'three terrific quarterbacks' so that means he must like Beck!" Uh.... No. What Ireland meant is what some of us we're saying all along. Ireland said Beck was "terrific" because he was trying to keep up his value in order to get something for him. When the team couldn't get anything of value for him, you saw last night how the team really thought of Beck. They released him. So much for "terrific."
