Hip hop was much better in the 90s. Unfortunately, gangsta rap did not send the best message possible. It had to go, but da-- it was good stuff.

i enjoy all the common stuff (dre, snoop, NWA, method man, biggie, outkast, wu tang, tu pac, etc etc.)

but if i had to name one guy that no one mentionned and that i really liked was DJ Quik ... that guy made some dope west coast beats... i still have his "finale" CD and listen to it from time to time...

I'll start with 1991's Quik Is The Name by Dj Quik....I hadn't been to Compton yet,nor did I ever by this time think I would ever be going,but this album helped with the intrigue.Songs like Sweet Black *****,Tonight,and the albums first single Born & Raised In Compton,helped spark even more of an interest in West Coast rap for me in the early 90's.

This one was an instant classic,the beats and grooves is what got me.18 yrs later,this one is still captivating.....Its a must have in your record collection.
