Miami to Play Alabama in 2012?

• The top executive for the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game at the Georgia Dome said he would like to match Miami with Alabama (or if that doesn't happen, Auburn, Georgia or South Carolina) in 2012, with each participant getting $2.25 million. ``It's something we would be interested in,'' UM athletic director Kirby Hocutt said. Hocutt wants a 2012 neutral-site football game and also is considering Chicago (against a Big East or Big Ten team). Gary Stokan, president of the Chick-Fil-A Bowl, said there will be two kickoff games at the Georgia Dome during the opening weekend of the 2012 season -- the one he is pitching Miami on, and one between Tennessee and North Carolina State.

Why play it at the Georgia Dome? Bring the game to South Florida.

They've been doing an early-season game between the ACC and SEC the last couple of years.

Should happen in September, though I think the UM-ND game may have replaced that.

The ND game ought to be fun. Up in Chicago, and then a home and home in like 2014 and 2016.

I would much rather see the ND game than the Alabama game. I was at the last UM-ND game in the Orange Bowl, and that might have been the rowdiest I have ever seen or heard that stadium. And at Soldier Field? That will be good times. Anybody going to Columbus this year?
