As a Dolphins fan who has lived in Massachusetts my entire life, I can say that it is hard to do. Dealing with the local press covering all those 1-15 and 3-13 seasons by the Patriots while the Dolphins continued to succeed certainly was not easy.

Also, I like them because I actually choose what teams to like. I don't blindly follow a team because it is the local team; or, for instance, jump on the bandwagon like about 80% of the Patsies fans. Where were all of you pre-2001? Yeah, you were nowhere.

I am a diehard fan of the Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins, as well as Boston College(though that may change once they leave for the ACC) and Providence College. But I chose to like those teams because I know people at the colleges and like the tradition/players of the pro teams. How would I have become Patriots fan? Idolizing STEVE GROGAN? Wanting to follow in the footsteps of TOM TUPA?

I have to deal with annoying Patriots fans every day, namely, my friends. When I argue about how lucky the Patriots are and I make my point well, they just use the escape route of '10-2'.

It's really funny, actually. The Boston Herald has a big write-up on the new Patriots punter, a rookie. I've never seen an article about a punter, ever. Of course, the Herald is pure trash, so whatever. The Globe at least has good writers.
