Lengthing the post in a box

When you post a thread for some reason the thread wraps the sentence a third of the length of the box. This makes each initial thread incredibly long if you want to make a point. I don't understand why, but if you reply to a post it does not do this. Is there anything that can be done about this?

Nobody is going to respond? There is no fix for this? Does not anyone else see this as a flaw?
