Glen Coffee (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. Now, there is a perfectly good explanation for his absence.
Coffee has decided to retire (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) from the NFL, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area.
So much for that third-round draft pick. The 49ers selected Coffee in the third round from Alabama just a year ago. Coffee was expected to be the primary backup to starter Frank Gore (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. He was expected to have a role on special teams. Now, poof, he’s vanished.
Coffee appeared in 14 games as a rookie for the 49ers and carried the ball 83 times. Now, rookie Anthony Dixon (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. Otherwise, San Francisco might soon be in the market for a veteran backup just like the New Orleans Saints are (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. The dude ripped it up last season in preseason, but when given the chacne to start when Gore went down, he looked out of his depth. Its a shock all the same.
