Teen says baggy pants saved him from seven-foot alligator

A St. Petersburg boy narrowly escaped an alligator attack because the gator bit his baggy pants instead of his leg, police said.

Seventeen-year-old Kendrick Williams was walking home from work Monday night and taking a shortcut near a pond at the Reserve Apartments in south St. Petersburg. "I heard the hiss and then I looked down and I seen the alligator on the ground," said Williams. "I ran. I didn't look back."

Williams said the alligator appeared to be six to seven feet long. However, one witness told St. Petersburg police the gator was 10 feet long, said police spokesman Mike Puetz.

The gator took a bite out of Williams' baggy pants, tearing large holes in the fabric.

Not a year goes by, not a year, that I don't read about some ******* kid getting stuck in an escalator. Don't get me wrong, I don't wish the kid ill - but his mother wouldn't have to go through that horrifying ordeal had some parent (I don't care which one) taught him to fear and respect that escalator! :lol:

When the Air & Space Museum opened in Washington, DC, they had a number of "mishaps" with toes and escalators. They ended up painting footprints on each stair so morons knew not to put their feet too close to the edge of each step--you know, where the wall of the escalator wasn't moving but your step was. I could forgive a kid, but if you're an adult, it's Darwin Award time.

I saw something similar happen one time at a BART station really late at night. Dude busted his face and everything. It was funny because he was trying to like ride the black belt down and it cost him.
