For the second installment, I present my list for the one of the more generic forms of metal today. Having said that, there are a lot of great albums in this sub-genre that get overlooked because of that. Again, this is not necessarily a top ten list and feel free to add your own.
1.) Killswitch Engage- Alive or Just Breathing
2.) All that Remains- The Fall of Ideals
3.) Avenged Sevenfold- Waking the Fallen
4.) Lamb of God- Ashes of the Wake
5.) Heaven Shall Burn- Iconoclast
6.) Unearth- The Oncoming Storm
7.) Between the Buried and Me- Alaska
8.) Mortal Treason- Sunrise Over a Sea of Blood
9.) Diecast- Internal Revolution
10.) Still Remains- Of Love and Lunacy

Metalcore is too hardcore for me
I like Disturbed and Godsmack. That's about the only "hardcore" groups I listen too.

I plan on doing more for the various sub-genres. Being the partially OCD metal snob that I am, I keep everything super
categorized.

Good man.
That said, I had to looke up what "metalcore" meant. Completely new word on me. Of that list I like Killswitch (seen them twice), All That Remains (seen them once) and Avenged.
Though I bet you can't guess my favorite band.

Yeah that stuff is a little too hardcore for me too although I do like Avenged Sevenfold.
I am going to see Megadeath, Disturbed, and Godsmack in August.

I hate you. I want to goto that show. But I have seen Disturbed six times already, so yeah. I really want to see Megadeth again. Because the place I saw them had a terrible sound system. Couldn't understand half the bands.

Pretty much anything by As I Lay Dying is really good as well. Ressurection by Chimaira also.
