Jack McKeon cautioned that he was “not a miracle worker” the last time he was hired to manage the Florida Marlins, then led the 2003 team to a World Series title.

He’ll need more than a miracle to pull off the feat a second time after he is introduced as the team’s manager Monday.
When he returns to the dugout tonight as interim manager, the 80-year-old baseball lifer will face an even greater challenge than he did in his first go-around with the Marlins.

In replacing Edwin Rodriguez, who resigned Sunday, McKeon will inherit a team that has lost 10 straight – one shy of the franchise record for consecutive losses – and sits in last place in the National League East, eight games under .500.
