I love classic rock, but most of it was about the same stuff...

This is said by literally every older generation about every younger generation's music. There's plenty of good music being made in between the Biebers and the Drakes (damn you Canada x2!), just like there was plenty of good music being made between the Osmonds and Leif Garrett.
I'll be honest, I mostly listen to my older stuff, but not because there's nothing good out there. As we get older, we don't have as much time (or inclination) to be up on new good music coming out. As has always been the case, you're probably best not looking for it on the Billboard.

Very true. I remember growing up in the 90's and people said that music was crap. Now grups like nirvana, pearl jam, u2, etc are looked at as classic groups.

I'm sorry, but that song was not bad. I think the fact that they can't sing worth a crap actually works for that particular song. Its got a good beat to it, and it's meant to be humorous. Take it for what it is, not for what you want it to be, and the song is much better. It was creative, and it allows two people with no singing talent whatsoever to have a song. That being said, there is no future (in the music industry) for these girls.
It's a "gimmicky" song.

IMO, one of the deciding litmus tests for music that stirs your soul is whether that particular melody refuses to quit from replaying in your head long after the song is over. I'd put this classic masterpiece right up there with the quintessential "It's A Big World After all". I'm hard-pressed to think of any current music that comes close to this standard :idk:

I thank thee kind sir. I've heard that song many a time and never knew its origins. Another mystery solved.
I know it's been playing for years already but I just saw Avenue Q recently and I gotta say that it was great. It's off broadway now but a really really enjoyable show and highly recommended
