Scouts already know about the football skills of players. They have studied tapes, watched practices and games and observed workouts before postseason all-star games such as the Senior Bowl. At those workouts, players perform in full pads and are measured by how they match up against other top players. The Combine experience consists of physical exams, intelligence tests, personality evaluations, position drills without pads and a series of drills that test the players' athleticism.
