He was a great C and 2nd or 3rd best of his era, cannot believed he died at 50 wonder what Jim Otto and Jim Langer think ?

This was very sad to hear of this news, and sad how his final decade, his 40's, were for him.
To me he was a special player. When I started playing high school ball in 1976 I was given #52 and placed at center. So looking around pro football and seeing the Steeler center with the same 1st name as myself and same number, I tried to use him as my role model. As I kept follwing him for the next 12 years my appreciation grew even more for him.
I do consider him the greatest center ever.
