The Chiefs wanted to cut 33-year-old Morton's $3 million annual pay, a move he was unwilling to make.

"We appreciate Johnnie Morton's effort during his tenure with the Kansas City Chiefs," Chiefs president Carl Peterson said in a statement. "We wish him the best in the future."

It must have been tough to let him go, but they had to for financial reasons. They've got Gonzo, Eddie Kennison, Dante Hall, Marc Boerigter, Chris Horn, Samie Parker, and the newly acquired Craphonso Thorpe who should be alright. I'm thinking maybe there's a chance that they pickup Koren Robinson would be a HUGE pickup for them. I really hope they do... than maybe then the Koren Robinson threads will STOP!

I loved Morton's worm TD dances.

I just want to thank you for not saying, "How about we sign Johnny Morton?" I just say this because it seems every time someone is cut somebody posts about signing that player.
