Tampa Bay Devil Ray's payroll: $19 million and change
Yankees: $149 million and change

What's wrong with this picture?

The A's and Twins are among the exceptions of good teams with small payrolls. But, the A's could lose Tejada this year after losing Giambi last year. The Twins stars will eventually become Free Agents and they could be the Expos of the American League.

Something needs to be done.

The Yankees are the reason why it is so high since they continue to raise the bar in giving players ridiculous contracts.
