LIVESAY(Pagan's band) CD Review by LtDanOverall I was very impressed with this CD. the guitar player Greg Livesay likes to play and he can play extremely well! CD is short(7 songs) but enjoyable. I look forward to the next LIVESAY CD due this year sometime (hopefully)
1) Awakening: Just your normal heavy metal instrumental opening tune 2) Darkest hour: My favorite song on the CD with lyrics by Alan/Pagan. Excellent rocking tune with an outstanding 45 second guitar solo.(2:22-3:07) 3) With Or Without You: Another very good song. Nice keyboard intro followed by some jammin' guitar. Another nice guitar solo(2:52-3:25) 4) Looking For Tomorrow: Another good tune. The only part I don't care for is the beginning of the chorus:"there's something you should know...." Yet another nice guitar solo. Mellow by Greg Livesay standards though(2:50-3:27) 5) Voyager: Cover of a Ronnie Montrose song. Very well done I must say. Sounds like something "Great White" would sing.(hopefully that is not an insult Pagan) 6) Love N' Chains: My second favorite song on the CD. Excellent overall song and I love the set-up of the verses and the bass line. Do I even need to say it. Guitar solo well done again(1:58-2:51) 7) You Won't See Me Fall: Nice intro....Another nice song. Not much bad in my opinion about this CD. I am a sucker for songs with nice guitar solos(3:31-4:06) I have listened to this 4 times through now and like it more each time. If you like 80's heavy metal, this is definitely for you. If you like guitar based songs with excellent solos(something you don't get in today;s music) then you will enjoy this. I did! Look forward to purchasing the next CD Pagan and the boys kick out! Ltdan OUT!!! http://www.livesayrox.com/index2.html

I personally can't wait to see them live, here in Rochester in April. I've listened to a couple of tunes on the MySpace Pagan put up, and I like them.
From what little I've heard, Livesay seems to be what i would refer to as a "Musician's Band". For those who care more about the "Playing", this is the type of band for you. As a singer in many local metal bands here in the 90's, I always sought out the best musicians I could find. I never cared how old someone was, what they looked like, what they wore, etc... it was all about "can they PLAY?". As a music fan, I also seek out this type of music. This is why I'm not into too much new that has come out. The Music Business seems to have become less about Music, and more about Business. I'm gonna have to PM Pagan... I want to get a hold of some of Livesay's CD's before they come to town. Also, as the date gets closer, and if there are people coming in to see the show, I might consider hosting some sort of get together for the FinHeaven folks... if there's interest in doing so. Lastly, if anyone is on the edge about coming to Rochester for this show, and $$$ is tight, in my new crib I'll have room to put a few (4-6) people up for the night down in the finished basement.

Hey Pagan, Seattle has a very strong independent record store community, if you want to set something up where you send me promo materials and samples, I'll walk them around and see what sticks.
You never know, could be a whole new market.

Pagan, MAKE SURE you bring me so stuff to off load at the local places... also if you need any Photoshop work does (flyers, posters, etc.) let me know. I can create pretty much whatever you want, and have the connections to get them put up the right places. I've been where you are and am always happy to help serious musicians. In my spare time, that's what I do here... lots of Flyer design, CD layouts, etc. for the local bands. I wish I could do it all the time.

I took guitar lessons there when I was a kid... from Tom, the guitar player for Immaculate Mary. Good times.
