1st Preseason game: just some thoughts and opinions........The 'Phins looked rather bland on Sat. against the Bucs. I will give them a little credit though. We held them scoreless until the last play before halftime
. Ricky looked really strong and quick. Beck was kinda shaky!! Henne had some really good zip on his throws!!! I give the defense a pass on this game, with Joey Porter & Vonnie Holliday in street clothes we can't really knock the "D" too much. Can't wait for Ronnie to be back to full strength, when it does happen, all us DOLFANS will enjoy alot of "R & R". If the O-line can gel together and be consistent our running game will be one of, if not the most feared in the League. And as far as Pennington is concerned, I think Big Tuna is a Genius!!! Chad has always been a Dolphin-killer ever since he came in the league. He is an excellent game manager and will be a great mentor to both Beck & Henne. He will be a perfect stopgap until either Henne or Beck decides to step up and grasp the starting gig. Rookies Phillip Merling & Kendall Langford both looked good, Rodrique Wright played exceptional as well with one sack. Randy Starks looked as if he is going to fit our team and the defensive scheme nicely!!! Overall grade : C-

I will give them a pass this game too...We all have to be realistic, i mean the Dolphins most likely will not be that good this year but what this preseason game showed us is that there is hope for the future and that is all i am asking for at this point.

I actually was pretty excited from what I saw.
The starting defense looks great, going through 2-3 straight 3 and out's. Our CB's looked a little slack, but everything else looked good. Our two rookies, Merling and Langford, looked spectacular! Henne looked really promising for our QB spot, Oline looked good (although wasn't tested too much w/the running game) and Ricky looked superb. Only things I saw that needed some adjustments/additions were 1) WR's and 2) CB's. D-line looked awesome, Linebackers looked good, Oline looked good, R-backs look good/decent, and QB looks promising. |
