2 Main Issue being overlooked on Trent Green to Miami

I believe there are two main issues being overlooked here. Put the age, system and all else aside and look at the main two issues.

1-Trent Green wants to be guaranteed a starting job. For all of you saying keep Culpepper and bring Green in, forget about it. Green is not coming to Miami if we keep Culpepper. If he isn't willing to compete against Brodie Croyle & Damon Huard, No way shape or form will he be willing to compete against Culpepper. If he was willing to be a backup he would stay in KC!

2-Trent Green does not want to restructure his contract. He wants to be a starter and he wants to be paid like a starter. Once Again, if Trent comes to Miami, Kiss Culpepper Bye Bye.

Me Personally don't want to see Culpepper leave. I also am not a big supporter of bringing in Trent Green. I know, everyone says he fits the sytem better and would be a better mentor.

Let me remind you, we gave up a 2nd round pick for Culpepper just 1 year ago, rushed him back from a serious (possible career ending) injury, and now we just want to let him go without giving him a chance. I don't like the idea.

I agree he holds onto the ball too long at times, but he can also make every throw on the field when given the time.

I would much rather have a 30 year old QB than a 37 year old QB.

Who is to say that Trent doesn't get another concussion and is done for his career, remember last years concussion was a serious one. The chances of another concussion happening after that is greater.

Um, not that I'm a fan of Green coming here or anything, but has he actually said that he wouldn't restructure?

With having to learn a new system, he will most likely hold on to the ball longer than we would like to see, meaning more sacks and loss of possesions, I don't like the sound of that.

And who is to say that Culpepper doesn't get another knee injury and is done for his career, let's stop playing the what if game, please.

I agree with you that Green is not the answer. I also am 100% in favor of actually giving Culpepper a fair shot. Too many people are ready to get rid of Daunte because he didn't do well in the 4 games he played last year. This is a new year, with a new coaching staff, a new offensive system, and hopefully a healthier CPepp. I do think we need to pick up a veteran QB who can step in and take over if Culpepper isn't healthy this coming season. I doubt that Quinn/Stanton/Kobb etc will be ready to go at the point they would need to. That means that Cleo Lemon would most likely be the odd man out in that situation. Which brings up a whole other issue for another time on how the Dolphins never give certain players a real shot.

Everything is an if nowadays. Especially in football.

No progress was made Thursday in either trade talks between teams or conversations between the Chiefs and agent Jim Steiner about restructuring Green's contract

Article on Sun Sentinel

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/f...dolphins-front

A source said the Dolphins spoke Wednesday with the agent for Trent Green about a possible trade with Kansas City for the veteran quarterback. But Green's salary demands may discourage the Dolphins from making a deal. Green, who would earn $7.2 million in base salary in 2007, was allowed to seek a trade after being unable to reach agreement on a restructured contract with Chiefs management. ... ntract. So Green had no idea where he would play in 2007.

If that's how Trent Green wants to play, than we shouldn't sign him.

I don't think he's odd man out.

It is a lot more common to get a concussion than Culpepper's injury.

See Dan Morgan!!!!!!!!

I'd be interested in dealing him off to Oakland if that's the case.

I agree, there is no doubt if Green comes here Culpepper is gone.

I am going to laugh when someone else drafts Brady Quinn and he is a bust.

The next Ryan Leaf. LOL

I dont see the Trent Green thing happening for us because of the situation we are in with Culpepper.

But one thing I always look to when trying to figure out this DC thang.
Camerons says he wants a leader who can read defenses and react and call plays at the line if need be. That is why they dogged Quinn in the interview. They want a guy they know has it upstairs and is on the same page with what they look to do because those are the things that get you into the endzone.

I think Cam said he loves DC's work ethic and being there every day yadda yadda yadda, but I think what Cam feels deep down inside is that DC is not our guy. That is why we are looking at Trent Green. Sooner or later......DC is gone IMO.

What's the hurry with Green anyway? He has no bargaining power @ 37. The Chiefs and no one else will pay him 7.2 mil. Let's wait it out. He'll get cut if he doesn't restructure.

Actually I do think that Cameron is looking to Green as an insurance policy. IMHO it would be a great move.

It is not unlike Linehan bringing Frerotte to St Louis or even Belichick bringing Testaverde to New England last season. Veteran depth is a good thing.
