Good assessment but small correction...Taylor was actually a 3rd round pick out of Akron.......otherwise an excellent comeback....

second rounder is premium value, the Dolphins could have ended up settling for a 3rd or 4th.....You're not going to find a team that is going to trade a first round pick for Jason Taylor or Jeremy Shockey so what the hell if Shefter talking about?

JT saying there isnt any anomosity is nothing more then him being politically correct. He is blatantly insincere with his comments and Im guessing he is going to use his vindictivness on the field. He will dominate in the washington market if for nothing more then to show everyone what a big mistake Parcels made in not pampering him. Now that Zach and JT are no longer team mates and actually on rivalary teams it will be intresting to see if he speaks out against JT. I suspect he wont because he is just that kinda guy but none the less it would be something if he decides to do so. |

So we should have waited until he hurt himself and gotten nothing! He didn't want to play for us. We also cleared 8m from the cap! How does it get better?

I don't get it, it's like the dolphins bought a new car and used it for 11 years and when it was about to break down, they sold it for more then they bought it for. It was a flat out good trade.

First off there are Many players picked up in later rounds who end up being probowlers. I'm not saying thats going to happen just that a 6th round player CAN in theory replace JT. Zach Thomas himself was a fifth rounder. I would name a certain patriot who was a sixth but I rather not say his name.

we were 1-15 last year with JT and Zach, so how much worse can we really be without them?

This is the title of the article:
Second-round picks simply can't replace Shockey, Taylor And yet here is the last line of the article: Neither Shockey nor Taylor is going to be easy to replace. But both teams can start trying with the extra second-round picks each has in 2009. Contradiction? Just what are you trying to say here Schefter? Always take this guy with a grain of salt... Let's call it a salt lick!

Schefter's article is ridiculous. Parcells & Co. would be fools to expect to get JT's production for a 2nd round pick, or a defensive #1 overall pick for that matter.
The team is in a different place than JT is right now. His time is short & he wants to win now. We are a couple of seasons away(hopefully). The 2nd round pick is a building block for a contender, not a replacement for JT.

The Giants clearly showed that Shockey is replaceable.
