a second round pick is not supposed to replace taylor
it is supposed to compensate us for the 70-80 tackles and 7-10 sacks JT has left. and trust me, a second round pick CAN achieve 70-80 tackes and 7-10 sacks during his career. |

At this point, the 2nd and 6th rounders are of much greater import to us than JT. As I had posted previously, if this rebuilding is effective, many of the players we will win with have not been acquired yet. The draft picks help us find those guys.

YEAH! We should have totally HUNG ON to Taylor for one more year and not gotten anything! That would have been the SMART thing to do!
WTF are these people thinking? |

yeah a 2009 2nd round pick who has yet to be selected until April o9' wont help us for the 08' season like JT would have. He'll help us for seasons 2009-2019 (hopefully), while JT only helps the Skins for the 08' maybe the 09' season.
Shockey has a good 6-8 years left in his tank while Hollywood (JT) has 1 to 3 tops. |

Different situations. We're nowhere so a bonus #2 has considerable value. The Giants are trying to win now.
I still think moving Shockey is a blunder. But I read some articles today and obviously Shockey wasn't happy. I was basing things on watching Shockey at Giants camp in Albany the last few years, the surge of energy he provided. Today I saw this paragraph: "It was obvious that Shockey was upset during the team's minicamp in June. While teammates practiced, Shockey stayed in the locker room, much to the dismay of coach Tom Coughlin." |

This is the key sentence in the article:
Quote:
![]() We did lose talent, and the 2008 team is worse off not having him on the team and on the field. However, long term, that second round pick is WAY more valuable then having JT on the team. Sure that second round pick could end up a bust, but he could turn into a 10+ year NFL star. You just don't know yet, but I would rather have the chance to take a guy high in the draft next year then hold onto JT for one more year. For 2008, the trade hurts the Dolphins. For 2009 and beyond, this trade REALLY helps the Dolphins.

What we did was robbed the skins...they never learn....we gave up a guy who didn't want to be here, had an inconsisten season last year, only wants to play 1 more season,2 at the most and was going to make 8 mill a year....in return we get a 2nd and a 6th...I know we can't predict how good or bad those picks will turn pout to be but imo we got the best of the deal....JT wasn't gonna be here for a superbowl run anyway.

That's funny.....I thought Taylor was originally a 4th round pick. Maybe only a fourth round pick could replace him, huh?

JT was putting up those numbers EVERY year. I would like to add something..........after this bozo at work started giving me crap about the Fins (I'm an easy target, hell we were 1-15 and haven't contended since like 2002)....... Anyway, the clown starts in on me..."how the hell can you guys trade JT for a second round pick??? That is absurd, blah blah, the Fins got hosed, yada yada...." And guess what folks... The easy comeback and it wasnt even a comeback because I had already thought it out in my head.....
Schefter and everyone else is way off base for thinking anything different. Will their 2nd rounder from Washington equate to a JT type player? Time will tell. But the fact remains: Miami got their poker chip back. And that is very rare people. I am out. |

we should definetly go after a WR or go after Brett Farve maybe PARKER or Glenn I would be satisfied with either.
