Its hard to say. C-pep didn't stand a chance behind the line at the start of the year. Hard to judge if he was gunshy or couldn't learn the system. Don't know how much Green already knows. Game time is the only way to tell. Green does seem to have a flow and a head on his shoulders.

What exactly is it you want Beck to watch Daunte do? Show him his impression of a statue? Show him how to hold onto the ball for as long as possible, then turn around and brace for the hit from the OLB? Show him how to check down and throw an INT into the hands of the LB standing right in front of him and then watch said LB take it to the house for a TD? Help him work on his WTF?? kind of defense is THAT facial expression? I'm thinking i'd rather have the guy that's PLAYED in this offense and had a pretty sustained and consistent number of productive and pro bowl caliber seasons.

Whats Daunte going to teach the kid?
This is how you fumble, This is how you throw a pick, This is how you hold onto the ball too long and take a sack, This is how you say your an elite QB.

John beck is like a 6-2 white guy, with fair athleticism, but nowhere the size and athletic gifts that a healthy Duante Culpepper had. Hiergo, I think he could learn much more from Trent Green then from an injured or even healthy Duante Culpepper, because I think DC had some gifts he was able to rely on, whereas Trent Green and John Beck would have to rely on other gifts that were different. BTW, this isn't a racist thing. I happen to think QB's like Warren Moon, Donovan McNabb, Doug Williams, etc. were all exceptional QBs, but Pep was a freak when he was healthy, and he relied alot on his physical gifts. I think losing that physical ability had more of an impact on him than say Carson Palmer for example for a couple of reasons: 1. Carson was never the most mobile QB to begin with, his game was never about that. Culpepper's was, it was an important part of his game. 2. Carson had a better line and supporting cast. In any case, I think that at this time given the circumstances i..e Cpep's health, offensive system, coaching, etc., Trent Green will be a better mentor to Beck than Cpep would have been because Cpep at his best was more reliant upon his incredible god given physical gifts than say Trent Green or John Beck who don't neccessarily possess those same gifts, but may possess others... Just a thought... |

I think Green is a better mentor for Beck, it's not all about physical ability.IMO Trent brings more to the table than Daunte,. Leadership, reading the def. checking down. ect.
