I've read posts by people willing to get a sixth for Beck. A sixth round pick for a second rounder vs. maybe a late rounder for a free agent pick up that hasn't beaten anybody in camp.

Cutting issue is difficult because we're after June 1st right now. I think a team can opt to accelerate all remaining unamortized bonus in the first year, or they can just choose to amortize the yearly amount this year, and the remaining in the second year. If the former, I'm going to go out on a limb and say Beck's remaining unamortized bonus is bigger than his salary (which is typically near the young player minimum, in rookie contracts)...so we'd have a net loss of cap space. If they spread it over two years, then we'd probably receive very minimal cap relief (maybe $150k) in 2008, but we'd probably take maybe a million or two in cap hit in 2009.
With Josh McCown, if everything is accelerated this year, then I believe we come out with a minimal net gain in cap space of maybe a few hundred thousand. If spread over two years, then we will receive a larger cap relief in 2008 (an addition of between $1 and $1.5 million) however we will lose $1.25 million of the 2009 salary cap.
Overall, it's easier to cut McCown than Beck, IMO.
