Daunte is a good QB and at one time he was a probowl caliber QB why not sign him for a year at the backup position?

As for the vet QB comments I made earlier... I mentioned that a vet pickup would likely already be familiar with Hennings offense, thus reducing the amount of time needed to regrasp the formations, terminology, etc. If Pennington got hurt, Henne is the next off the bench. Should Henne then proceed to struggle and/or become injured himself, I'd be willing to bet Sparano and Parcells would feel more comfortable having a seasoned player at the helm to take over instead of the inconsistent and relatively 'green' Beck. I'm not saying that it would be the RIGHT decision, but IMO it goes along with common sense. A rookie coach would likely want to play a vet over a young player if, all things considered, the two players are relatively a wash in skill set and grasp of the offense. Time is irrelevant here. Except in rare emergencies, the 3rd QB rarely plays, and likely the two men in front of him on the depth chart do not get hurt in the same game, allowing the team ample time to sign accordingly in the case of injury, preparing the new player properly. |

I personally am a fan of Culpepper, but I do think he wasn't a very class act in trying to get out of here. Granted I could understand why he wanted his release, etc, but I think he could have handled it better. But thats not important. I would be ok with signing him, but considering he turned down an offer from GB for in the ballpark of a million dollars and a decent shot at being the #2 QB, it doesnt make sense to bring him here. He would likely want too much money to be a 3rd string QB (which he def. would be with Henne sitting pretty behind Pennington on the Depth Chart). Maybe he'd take less money to be closer to home, but I doubt it.

Yea and we treated Daunte with so much class. Traded for a guy who was more declindeclining than him and just gave him the job without even giving Daunte one snap.

I believe Beck will be gone, right after Simms is released.
