Crazy dan le betard talks shinanigans!

http://www.miamiherald.com/616/story/38067.html

The newest Miami Dolphin has a history that includes being shot in the butt in a drive-by, being three hours late to his own wedding because he was arrested, an ejection for punching a player in the mouth during warmups and an incident that involves two of his mean dogs getting loose and killing a neighbor's miniature horse.
Man, that was a really fun sentence to write. And you are going to love the way frenzied, angry Joey Porter plays. Try to ignore that he had three tackles or fewer in half his games last season.

And you just got more for Welker than a Super Bowl team got for trading Thomas Jones, its best offensive player. You got about as much as the Bills got for trading Willis McGahee, their best offensive player. So here's where that puts us in this bizarro offseason: Miami bilks Belichick and the genius Patriots, but can't get anything at all for the most productive tight end in franchise history. Makes sense.

It's the truth with the Welker deal, I still can't believe that.

Thats exactly what I cant understand. Welker got us a 2nd and a 7th yet Mcmike a proven starter for 5 years now gets us nothing? Not to mention that he started every game for us, proving his durablity. I know that teams knew we werent going to pay his 3 mil roster bonus, but we should have gotten something for him and it is rediculous that we didnt. we are even trying to get a pick out of mare right now. The McMike situation baffles me. I believe that he was too good to let walk for nothing. especially when we have now replaced him with someone worse.

But by the way, that welker deal was amazing. I loved welker, but there is no way a GM can say no to that deal. Great move by the fins. Now we just need to make sure we capitalize with that 2nd round pick and get a great player.

Are we really that shocked about why Welker was considered valuable enough to trade for but McMichael was not?? The reason is that, like all of us, everyone else saw McMichael's play last year. Welker will give you 100% on every down. McMichael only showed up late in the season and his dropped balls were drive killers in close games. He was a dagger in our own hearts. That's why nobody would trade for him. He needed a change, a new place where he could start over and now he has that in St.Louis.

The reason McMichael was not traded for, was everybody on the planet knew we were not going to pay him his 3 mil. bonus, once we started shopping him around......

How does any of this not make sense.

It doesn't take a genius to know that McMichael was gonna get cut. It was a cap move. Teams knew he might be cut and felt it would be worth the wait to try to outbid for him. He had a bonus that no team figured we would pay.

Welker, it was the simple case that someone came to us for his services. You will always get more for a player when someone comes to you asking for him then when you shop him for a pick.

It's not weird or crazy it is simple. This is meant more for Lebatard then you guys

Well we got a sixth for Big Daddy who did absolutely nothing for us, and if thats the case then we need to stop trying to trade mare. Mare missed the most field goals I believe last year (10), so if people were watching his play then they wouldnt trade for him. I think McMike is going to do awsome in STL especially with Linehan as coach. not to mention he will have a solid qb for once throwing him the ball. I just have a feeling that we shouldnt have let him go so easily thats all.

I realize that, and I realize that teams knew we were not going to pay him his 3 mil roster bonus, which would then lead us to cut him. But I also realize that teams know that we are going to cut Mare soon, because now that we have signed another kicker, the future for Mare here is slim. So why are we trying to trade him for a draft pick, or a player swap. Teams should just wait then. Maybe that is why nothing has happened as of yet trade wise.

I think Dolphin fans seriously overrate McMichael. He was a good tight end that looked to have the potential to be great a couple of years ago, but he has turned into an out of shape inconsistent tight end that has way too many mental lapses to even be considered "good." As much as people are saying it was a salary cap decision, I truly believe it was mainly a football decision. The guy is very noticeably slower than he was a couple of years ago, he is a below average blocker, and he drops too many passes. At least if we go with a cheap true blocking tight end we are getting something out of the position.

I heard Jason Cole on Sirius a couple of days ago and he basically said the same thing. Randy has a poor work ethic and has become fairly easily replaceable.

Bottom line - we didn't get anything out of McMichael because he's not worth it.

Well then hopefully the TE we signed from GB can step in and take over.

randy!

I believe that the fact that Randy McMichael was supposed to be alot more clutch then he actually was, furthermore the dropped passes were very noticible. Wes Welker is the man and he is a baller now because he took some hard hits and did a good job moving the ball down the field.

ps the defense is going to be rediculous... GO FINS!

Well from what I read, we already paid Mare his 250k bonus, to keep him as long as we could and trade him to a team in need of a kicker.

His bonus is much more affordable to keep around. Paying McMichael 3 million and then trade him would have been a huge mistake.
