DCH-Read this please.

You talked about Roosevelt Colvin...but I have a few questions.

1) Is Takeo Spikes going to be franchised?? If not will the staff go after him?

2) WR...what is Miami looking for? Possesion, Speed, or a little bit of both? What about the news on Peerless Price...Heard he may come down here....this true???

3) Is Cris Carter coming back with an actual REAL chance to compete for the starting job?

4)Heard Timbo may be replaced soon because of his age and knees...this true?

5) What is Miami going to TRY to do this offseason to help special teams?

6) Is Ogunleye coming back? Is Greenwood?

7) What was wrong with Obafemi Ayanbadejo? Why not sign him if Konrad goes?

Thank You DCH! Keep up the great posts!

Here are my thoughts......

1. With the hiring of MARVIN LEWIS....in BUNGLELAND......look for him to revitalize some of those defensive guys who have been dreaming of nothing more than leaving town. SPIKES is the perfect OLB in LEWIS' defensive schems....and it is pretty much now a mortal lock that he will be their franchise player. Look for the DOlphins to get a LB this off-season....most likely through Free-agency.....as well as from the draft. A major influx of new blood is needed at OLB....a very weak position on this team....both ROgers and GREENWOOD would be backups on mostly every team in the NFL....but of course....not in these coaches minds.

2. Are the Dolphins looking for a Possession Wr...or speed guy.... They want a combination of both......if they could. They want a WR who makes plays....and can get some attention by the opposing secondary..... they want an impact type of complementary WR on the opposite side of Chambers.....whomever that may describe. Like I said before......I don't see the Dolphins spending 4-5 million a year on a top tier Wr like PRICE. I see the Dolphins taking a WR with their second round pick.....and also......re-signing the BIG O....and also....bringing in a veteran...WR thru Free-agency. Ike HIlIARD maybe.....someone along that tier of a veteran, productive WR.

3. The Dolphins got absolutely nothing out of CARTER when they took him off the HBO set. Clearly.....CARTER has lost 2 steps....not 1...you could just see how much he struggled to get open when he was called upon..... hardly any seperation at all. Carter should really just call it a day.....it has been a great career for him.....and the Dolphins really should move on as well. Carter however......has said that he would like another chance to prove himself....and has expressed his feelings to WANNY. If he comes back.....I mean....your talking about strictly a red-zone passing option....a simple role...and thats about all he can do for this team.

4. TIM BOWENS is as tough and rough as anyone who has worn a Dolphins uniform. A player that nobody on the Dolphin team messes with....they just leave him alone and all he does is produce year after year. He hardly ever misses a game...and is just so reliable.....I mean....there is no chance that BOWENS is not the starting DT along with CHESTER once again, next season. DT is mercifully.....not one of the problems on this team.....we all have to give WANNY credit for that position grade and evaluation...for crying out loud.

5. The DOlphins have the help wanted sign out for anyone who can seemingly try and end up in the endzone after fielding a punt. WANNY has put an emphasis on finding this individual in FREE-AGENCY.....so lets see what happens. Priority #2 for the special teams.....is for Coach ARMSTRONG to "clean up" all the stupid penalties and mishaps on just about every single return last season...it seemed. We need to bring in a Punter to see if he can be better than Mark Choked Royal--EE against the wind in New England. And without WESTOFF around.....MARE's kicking game has not been up to par. Special teams.....right now.... needs to be 'cleaned up"....like WANNY has cliched'.

6. OGUNGLEYE had a very surprising breakthrough year....you really can't complain....10 sacks....and can even get better. He will be back opposite Taylor. Merlon Greenwood has no business starting in the NFL right now.....simply does not make enough plays...you hardly even know he is in the game. Could not start for just about every team in football....except for the Dolphins....this a guy who we traded up in the draft to get....but he is still very young...and it is believed that the DOlphins will once again let him compete for his starting job. The DOlphins will try and upgrade at OLB....but you just never know....Greenwood has the bettter shot over ROGERS of being in there once again next season....with this coaching staff's personal feelings about Merlon's ability....which do not necessarily agree with the majoriy.....the fans.

7. Konrad wants to return and the Dolphins will start negotiations with Drew next week about his contract. I really think that this deal will get done.....mainly because both parties want to get it done. Konrad likes Norv Turner...and also likes living in SOuth Florida.... The only way Konrad leaves....is if the Dolphins brass really low balls him....below market average. FEMI may get another look-see next camp.....he is still out there....but if both KONRAD and DYER are in the fold......the Dolphins will just get some bodies in camp next year....because the Dolphins are only keeping 2 Fb's and thats Konrad and Dyer. Theres only a roster spot if there is an injury to either one of those guys...... that is the bottom line.

Thanks for asking..

I'd stay away from Hiliard, he's had a history of being a bit hard to work with. Also even though Konrad had a breakout year I wouldn't open the bank for him. I mean how much are 2 and a half catches a game worth. Could Dyer make 2 catches a game for alot less. I think Konrad could be quite a weapon but the offense hasn't really sent him up feild to utitlize mismatches he could create although I think opposing teams have to and do plan for him. Just not sure how much that is worth.

The bad thing about Konrad coming out of coll was that he didn't like to block (see S.Pritchett) & He fumbled to much. & isn't a true FB. They should see if there is any interest from other teams before throwing any money at him.

UMMMM.... The key statement there is coming out of college blocking was his problem.....

You may have had a problem wetting your pants @ age 2 but not now right? (hopefully)

why did he have a problem with blocking?
He never had to at Syracuse. He was always being thrown to!

Under " I run the ball up the middle all game" Chan Gailey blocking is all he did and he does a great and I mean great job of it now. He had some fantastic blocks this year for Ricky when Linebackers left T. Ruddy standing alone holding his Johnson.

Many posters here seem to underestimate the value of his skills just being on the field and teams having to make sure he's accounted for. Most FB defenses won't spend a second even worrying about.

Who cares if he did that out of college? He is a monster blocker now and never drops. Havent you watched any of the games this past season?

I think you all are severely underestimating what he brings to the table. OK, so he only catches 2 1/2 balls a game. He also out running a route, harboring the attention of a linebacker, safety, or both. That means those players have to watch him, and cover their man, or do whatever in the scheme they are playing in. Secondly, I'll tell you how frustrating it is to play against a team with a good catching FB. You have everything covered downfield, WRs, TE, and RB, and out pops an uncovered fullback to gain 5-12 yards. I've seen it happen with Rob more often than not this season. His return should be a top priority......

You'd have to cover any guy a team puts into a pattern. It's how well that guy gets open that seprates his skills. Again I think Dyer has the potential to "pop" out anbd catch a pass. He doesn't have the potential to run a downfeild pattern that Konrad does or the speed to outrun a LB that Konrad does but he can do the passes out tin the flats level of this offense which is the majority of catches Konrad had. I think we'll see a slimmed down version of Dyer also. Again I think Konrad is a weapon but I don't think he's worth breaking the bank for at least the way he's been used so far.
