Perhaps you could start Beck but it sure doesn't seem like that is the way the coaching staff is thinking right now. Sparano saw the situation last game as an opportunity to get Henne some work, as he stated in his presser. I don't think Beck even entered his mind. There is a reason Henne is second string. I know they respect Henne's toughness and poise, as they have mentioned several times. I don't think they're worried about destroying his confidence by playing him too early, that is why he's second string. If Penny goes down Henne plays. Dan Henning also remarked about Henne playing under the pressure of Michigan for 4 years.

Henne although if people don't want him to start just yet then they should all clearly want Beck to play.

I had high hopes for Beck but this off season went real bad. I don't know if he took a leak in the coaching staffs cornflakes or more likely just stunk up the joint in practice. He can't beat out a rookie or McClown and they have to call up Noodle Arm who probably wouldn't even have started for the Jets before they got Favre. How bad can Beck be? I think Henne is next in line if Pennington gets hurt. Starting either Henne or Beck would be good. I would give the edge to Henne so far but keep in mind we don't have a heck of a lot real playing time for either one. I wouldn't mind seeing Beck go out there and see what he can do either. We could figure out if we should keep him as a backup, get back into competition for a starter, earn trade value, or I hate say it even though its likely, get rid of him for good

Even if we overachieve, we're going to miss the playoffs. Anyone who wants to do something other than rebuild this year has deceived them selves about the past 5 years. I'm not saying tank the season either. I say give them both some playing time so we can see what we got. Blah blah blah we already seen what Beck's got blah bah blee. So what, he's on the team for some reason other than that same olé BS. There's no reason to drive Henne into ground this season either, like what happened last season.

A pre-season season if you will. For everyone. Earn your spot for the up swing. We have got to give this new management/coach 2-3 years or we're just repeating our selves...

Wasn't this question decided already when they listed Henne behind Penny? Am I missing something?

bring culpepper out of retirement! lol joking

If this happens, say tomorrow against NE, then you have to play beck. The O-line hasnt been good, and neither have the receivers. If it is by mid season, and the O-line and receivers are playing better, than henne all the way. It puts him in a perfect situation, and we'll get to see how good he is. besides, playing the rookie is always fun.

I hope to God TS knows the answer to this question right now and has faith in that selection because it WILL happen. Come on, it's Penny.

I'd go with Henne and I think Sporano will go with Henne. I don't think Beck will take another snap in the NFL.

got to put beck in, but i also think that rotating henne in throughout games would be good, even with pennington playing

I would like to see if Beck can get it straight, but if the injury scenario would play out, and we see Henne, then we don't need to see what Beck has 'cause the coaches already know.
