Of course we could have gotten over it. I never said we couldn't. The refs sure didn't help though. Hey Goonboss, you sound like you need a hug. Go get one.

The Jets O-line was holding our D-line all day, but seldom was the call made. I'm not one who likes to blame officals b/c bad calls are usually made both ways, but this seemed excessive. Omar Kelly in his blog in the Sun Sentinel also mentioned he saw Randy Starks being held a number of times, but they weren't called. That got me to thinking that in this case the refs may have been looking out for Farve. Protecting him with the no calls for holding. Did anybody else see the same thing or am I just flat wrong. What do you think?

Here is the link if want to read it. The comment about Starks is almost at the end of the blog.

Yep, they sure favored him when twice in the first half Miami defenders interfered w/ Jet WRs w/ no calls, they favored him when Miami was offside and we got the 1st down across midfield on the first drive but htye called the play back on a JETS hold and obviously the fact that we almost doubled you guys in penalties Favre and the Jets were clearly favored

football is about momentum. more-so in college, but to an extent in the NFL. the Ravens had them stopped and the refs pretty much screwed them. the Pats didn't have to overcome anything like that, the refs did it for them. until the Superbowl, and then they coudldn't overcome the Giants, so they must not be good, either.

like the broncos/raiders game last night. the raiders had no momentum whatsoever.... ok, they played so bad, that's a terrible example.

Exactly, Oakland got screwed last night on several calls before they were blown out. For the record I HATE OAKLAND.

They won, we lost. Maybe there were bad calls, maybe there weren't. Bottom line, good teams win these types of games. Case in point...If we had that critical time out left in those last 13 seconds, the Jets would have to respect the run. They didn't. That was a HC mistake, not the refs nor anyone else. Sooner people stop crying about the refs is the sooner we as fans can gain some respect again.

ETA: My daughter has had to learn this the hard way. We've had some horrendous officiating in her Soccer Leauge. I'm an assistant coach and I've had to go heart to heart with some of the girls, and, tell them in no uncertain terms that THEY determine the outcome of a game, not the refs. Get over it or don't. Win or don't. I'm sick of excuses.
Whether we won or lost, there was horrible officiating no doubt about it. We could have won the game at then end, but didn't. We still can call out the refs though. You think that we're wrong in doing so? Well let me ask you this Mr. Moral Fiber, Was it wrong when Mark Cuban screamed at commissioner David Stern that "his league was f***** fixed!" after he lost the 06 NBA finals? Then the next year referee Tim Donaghy is caught for gambling on and fixing NBA games. Not that I care about basketball, but he was right in doing so.

I agree. just because a team doesn't overcome crappy calls doesn't make it any less of a fact that some calls were bad (no specific game in mind). i think the whole point is: let them play, they shouldn't have to overcome poor refereeing if they have the odds stacked against them already.

I'll trade you all of your false start penalties for a hold and a PI call

To the Soccer coach, I know what your saying and I explain that to my kids all the time, but the truth is, bad calls CAN decide games.

I coach pee wee football and little league baseball, and have seen some horrendous calls from refs, sometimes by accident, sometimes for "other" reasons.

I never let the kids argue, and never let them walk away blaming the umps or refs. We always point out the things that they could have or should have done better if they wanted to win.

Calls will always mean the difference in close games. I was disappointed Sparano didnt give them an earful because you know Bellichik would have.

The PI was a good call as he held Coles right arm and they missed 2 blatant PI calls early in the game. This game was NOT determined by bad calls.
