Did the refs favor Farve?

I know in the NBA the refs will not call star players for fouls that they would call on other players. I've never accused the refs in the NFL of that, but in yesterday's game I think the refs protected Farve. All through the game I kept yelling, "That's a hold!" The Jets O-line was holding our D-line all day, but seldom was the call made. I'm not one who likes to blame officals b/c bad calls are usually made both ways, but this seemed excessive. Omar Kelly in his blog in the Sun Sentinel also mentioned he saw Randy Starks being held a number of times, but they weren't called. That got me to thinking that in this case the refs may have been looking out for Farve. Protecting him with the no calls for holding. Did anybody else see the same thing or am I just flat wrong. What do you think?

http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports...ld-dolphi.html

Here is the link if want to read it. The comment about Starks is almost at the end of the blog.

the refs protect vets. Its their job.

for example, take jake Longs tripping penalty in the game. I promise you John Ogden or Orlando Pace or any of the other stellar Ts tripped in almost every game. It was a really crafty move by Jake, but since Jake is a rook, he got called for it. In 6 years, Jake will never get that called on him. (Granted, He will be more subtle about it as well) but there is no doubt in my mind the refs protect the vets.

Another example, when Matt roth got penalized for hitting Favre. Seriously, Matt Roth tackled Favre cause Favre played out the fake, and they gave him a 15 yard penalty. That was ridiculous.

There's no crying in football. The sooner we all learn the lessons about acting like winners, the better.

I don't know about "Farve", but it sure seemed like they favored "Favre" a couple of times.

No matter the miscues we had for a young team we were still in position to win that game in the final minutes of the game. As the season goes on, the young guys will start getting it together. The refs gave us one though, Ronnie looked down before he got out of bounds. I don't think the refs handled the game poorly overall.

What about when the play clock ran out on Farve on 3rd and 3 during their last TD drive also. That was a huge play!

I'm never one to whine about officiating or make excuses, but this was one of the most poorly and lopsided officiating jobs I've seen in a while. Even my dad, whose a Browns fan and could care less about the Dolphins, said it looked like the refs had an agenda. With Brady likely to miss the season, this could have been a huge divisional win for us. Sure we could have played better, but we played well enough to win.

Broken record. Sooner we let that sort of thing go the better.

They favored Marino too as they do with most NFL stars. What goes around come around though and it is not the bottom line why we lost the game. I did not like the holding on Starks though that was bad officating. Chad P looked good for the most part even though we could not establish the game.

Get real will you. I never said or blamed our loss on the refs. and there is nothing wrong with wanting a fairly called game. If you think we're wrong or crying about it support your comment.

I watched the Game again and on the Hail mary pass at the end you can see the Head ref smiling at Brett Favre.

Support my comment? Are you serious? Check all the posts on page one where grown men are crying like little girls about "Blown" calls. I'm sic k and tired about all the about how we're getting screwed or the refs favor Farve.

They won, we lost. Maybe there were bad calls, maybe there weren't. Bottom line, good teams win these types of games. Case in point...If we had that critical time out left in those last 13 seconds, the Jets would have to respect the run. They didn't. That was a HC mistake, not the refs nor anyone else. Sooner people stop crying about the refs is the sooner we as fans can gain some respect again.

ETA: My daughter has had to learn this the hard way. We've had some horrendous officiating in her Soccer Leauge. I'm an assistant coach and I've had to go heart to heart with some of the girls, and, tell them in no uncertain terms that THEY determine the outcome of a game, not the refs. Get over it or don't. Win or don't. I'm sick of excuses.

We should have won, ok... If we played our game, the way we wanted to play our game, running the rock successfully, we would have won and the bad calls and no calls by the refs wouldnt have mattered.

Lets just hope we can get the ball rolling for next week.. Its going to be tough, really tough..

I really dont want to start off 0-2 and the Jets 2-0, Buffalo 2-0 and NE 1-1

i felt the same way about the Chiefs/Pats officiating, but what can we do about it?
you're welcome from Chiefs Nation on the Brady thing. not intentional, but not unfavorable to teams like the Phins who now have chances to *gasp* sweep the pats. granted, I doubt that will happen unless the phins come fired up to play (like week 3 pre-season) but i think it is now a lot easier.

I remember the Ravens game last year. they are a good team and couldn't overcome the officiating... nor could the Eagles.
