Did Young dis Marino?

Maybe I was a little delusional (sp?) sitting in the hot sun at Fawcett stadium but I could have sworn that Young tried to dis Dan in his acceptance speech. He said something about winnning the Superbowl was the best feeling in the world - much better than winning an MVP or holding all the passing records. Now that's not word for word what he said (I'm still a little dizzy from the heat) but it had that jist. I think he was pissed that sooooo many people were there for Dan and just had to get one in on him.

I dunno maybe not - but then again if Dan would have went up before Steve there probably would have been only about 43 people left in the stands.

It sounds to me like Steve was just being honest and that Dan would probably agree with him. Winning the Super Bowl is the ultimate goal, and part of the reason it is so coveted is that awesome players like Dan and Barry Sanders have incredible careers but yet never get it.

LOL... you said "Dis". I also think you're overracting. I'm pretty sure Steve was just talking about the SB being the highlight of his career.

Didn't sound like a dis to me either, just honesty about how he felt at the time. He seems lik a standup guy who would do something like that.

Nah, he said that winning the super bowl was better than all the records HE set as a QB(ie.. passer rating, rushing..etc). He never made light of Dan's records. Young was a class act in that ceremony.

Marino would tell u the same thing.

He has mentioned a couple times he would trade it for a ring.

Dan is smart and realizes records will eventually be broken. I don't believe when it is all said and done that Dan will hold any records. They will all get surpassed one day IMO.

But you could never take away a SB win or ring.

Just like no one can take away from the fact that the best pure passer of all time played on the Phins

His records may get broken, but it won't be from one individual.

Bottom line: bums like Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson have rings...So young is a good QB with rings....So what!! He cant carry Marino's luggage..Im so sick of these "ring's" comments...people who truly believe that BS are not real football intelligent...The man cant play 2way's...this has always been an idiotic debate...Dan would take ANY of those 49ers teams..and any of those Bronco teams to the same place...Marino didnt hold back ANY team..it was his teams that held him back!

For crying out loud guys. Where the hell is this grudge for Steve Young coming from? Really. Everything is now being scrutinized and twisted to something negative. Let the man have his day too.

Guys, don't try to turn this into a competition.

Now, Dan the Man is the best of all time, but both QB's gave great speeches and were all-round classy at today's ceremony.

Steve Young did a nice job.

So how exactly does a Dolphins fan rationalize the fact that in 10 of Marino's 18 career playoff games, he had two OR MORE interceptions???

It seems to me that the Dolphins didn't fail to win a Super Bowl DESPITE Marino, they failed to win a Super Bowl BECAUSE of Marino.

Maybe one day if you guys are lucky enough to witness TRUE GREATNESS, you'll understand where the critics are coming from.

I dont Steve was trying to DISS Dan in any way...I think Steve realizes he was not as great a QB as Dan but he was just happy to be inducted with Dan....Steve has a SB ring, but Dan is still the best ever.
