I agree also...most of these signings will not be here by year 2 or 3. Yet it does stabilize our depth and special teams for now.

I like the idea because it allows the coach to continue to develop players instead of starting too and then having to stop and start over with new players again. Also another nice thing is they know the system and can feel comfortable and be instant contributors instead of wasting time and games learning . Lastly, since these guys know the system they create a model for the rookies so the coach can show them how he wants the system to run.

Well it has been said to death before but... This team is ALOT of players away from competing on an every day basis. We need players all over the field and on both sides of the ball... it will not be turned around over night but a good way to begin is bringing in a platoon of players maybe that you know... Maybe with a little upside that will contribute immediately on special teams and at the very least provide a little depth in other places. Most of these guys are still young but have experience in the league which is an excellent combination as well as our FO KNOWS them and their limitations... Couple that with the fact that we have not overpaid and I dont see the problem.

I would much prefer that the Tuna bring in guys he knows and that Sparano knows instead of players that only put on their best act for a day or two during a "visit". Anybody can make a good impression for a short time, but the Dolphin brass have seen these guys in all kinds of situations and know what they are getting. If thse ST guys are who they want I, for one, am not going to second-guess them.

I understand your frustration but you have to realize that our roster was bottomed out with sub par talent. These guys are upgrades and know what is expected by the current staff...they also know the systems. Dallas was a top tier team and we got their special teams captain, and now their #4 CB. The Dallas morning news has an aritcle on Kevin Davis the special teams captain we got and they were saying that fans dont realize how much the team with miss him...link: http://www.dallasnews.com/s/dws/nwsl...r.2bf51ce.html
There is more to a team than top tier talent alone...imagine a team of only Randy Moss's or T owens's...These guys are building blocks and will teach the system...help sell it too. Most of these players also fill the gap for the years where we have no draftees left...I can't wait to see the new team bustin it's butt on the field and hitting...like Jimmy's first year where Zach, Izzo and the crew flew around playing like kids...attitude (what this team has been missing for years) is something that the new regime has all mentioned since arrival.

1/ the didn't win anything last year and many of them are scheduled to be special teams players........so why not choose 2 or 3 cowboys and 2 or 3 patriots special teamer (to upgrade our roster and downgrade theirs) ?

2/ too much formers players stay around them and don't gel with others.

3/ not very much talent in this group but it's only MO.

what about that IYO guys ?
1. We finished last in kickoff coverage last year and one reason for that was the release/not resigning of our best special team players. Parcells believes, as Jimmy Johnson did, special teams is the first step to a championship and Bill is building this team from the bottom up.

2. This may or may not be a problem but there is nothing to suggest that these ex-Cowboys will not associate with other players.

3. You are right about this but they were not brought in to be the foundation of the team. They were brought in to be the, as others have put it, the bricks and mortar of the team.

i really have to agree with sleek on this one- very good post

1. all these players were picked and/or developed by parcells and co. meaning that they either (A) can fluently run the system we are putting in, or (B) have a chance to progress and grow into a bigger role. Though players like keith davis may never be a great S, he may be a servicable backup and great on ST

2. They help instill the attitude of hard work and committment parcells and co. want to bring to the team. I would rather have a hard working st player right now than a veteran malcontent.

It's a good thing because they have bought into the system already. They will help stabilize the team into all buying into it together. They already know what is expected and will help the other guys get acclimated faster.
