Do you think MIA made the right choice with Parmele over Hart?

I personally would like to see the starting tackle,running back and quater back being drafted on the same team.However,IMO Mike Hart isnt are good as Jalen.To me,the reason I believe Hart was passed over by MIA was because Jalen had better speed/break-away speed.And for that,I totally agree with the pick,I wouldn't say Hart wouldn't have worked out here,I'm saying that when you have identical type players infront of you,you look at all the measureables.Their both inside runners,but Hart lacks the speed to get outside...Jalen however can run inside and out...running a 4.4,I'd say thats a decision made right by Ireland.

IMO,I think that with good coaching,Parmele can be the next Michael Turner...you know...with a couple years learning from the R@R express themselves,anything possible...and I truely think Parmele can one day be a starter in this league,but thats just me...

As a Michigan fan I really like Mike Hart. He plays hard, but I agree his break out speed is lacking. I didn't know anything about Parmele so at the time I was upset with him sitting there we didn't draft him.

Now listening to the guys around here and watching the u-tube vids on him, I'm very comfortable with the pick.

Personally I would say they seem to be equal as far as skill goes. I hope he gets his touches to help him learn.

Reminds me too much of Bernie Parmalee, not a good thing...Gimme Hart, jk, I don't think either will become much in the NFL.

On the Dolphins, Mike Hart would have been a special teams guy in the Autry Denson mold (marginal size, speed and power, but good intangibles). Is Parmele going to be better than that? I don't know. I haven't seen anything but highlight videos. His talent ceiling certainly seems higher. But I doubt he would have brought the same great locker room presence a Mike Hart brings (although I'm not sure how much leading your average 3rd string running back does).

Personally, I would have preferred they kept Booker, who at least provided a change of pace from the size/speed smack-over types that currently are the only backs on our roster. A guy like Parmele is going to be used interchangeably with linebackers on special teams, where a guy like Booker could be used for a lot of different things.

How does Mike Hart even get activated on game day unless he's going to get a lot of carries, and who does he steal carries from ... Ricky Williams or Ronnie Brown?

You need versatility and guys who can fill several roles at those end of roster positions. The fact that Parmele can possibly play RB, FB and contribute special teams makes him way more valuable as a 3rd RB. The 3rd RB has to play special teams on this roster, because they're not going get many (if any) snaps as a RB behind Williams and Brown. Hart would have been swatted away like a gnat in special teams coverage. Fans just ignore special teams units, but its what keeps coaches awake at night in late August when they're making out their final 53.

If we werent going to be a smash-mouth run team....then yea,I would perfer Booker,but Boker isnt going to take on anything higher than a db,if that.He is just too small to be in a power running style of offense...he is more of a west coast kind of back....where he would wing out every once in a while...like what Ronnie was doing last year and what he'll be doing in Philly...and honestly Booker probably would have gotten killed,had he stayed here,so with that said,Jalen was an awesome move instead of Booker...IMO

Jalen is a big guy but has a different running style than Ronnie. Jalen has some good lateral moves to break inside and outside. Ronnie's best move is straight through your face mask.

We already have Ricky and Ronnie, who are both big, smash mouth guys. Parmele is another in the same mold. Even with all the injuries inherent to the RB position, a bit more diversity seemed to be in order. Besides, I thought Booker showed deceptive power and determination last year.

My guess -- since I haven't read it anywhere -- is that the FO decided that all of the things you generally use a guy like Booker for (flanker screens, punt returns, kick returns) can and were being done by Ginn. Now, I'm not sure about the wisdom of using/overusing your #1 wideout like this (hence the speculation about the signing of Jayson Foster), and if the FO was as, well, then maybe they should have kept Booker around.

The problem with Booker is that he has not shown the ability to play on special teams and as the third running back that is critcal to many coaches. Parmele has shown that he can atleast return kickoffs so that makes him in some ways more viable option than Booker as the third running back.

To be truthful I would rather have drafted a corner or a Wide receiver with that pick.

Players I liked at that pick were Ahtyba Rubin DT, Paul Hubbard WR, Dujuan Tribble CB, Justin Harper WR, Adrian Arrington WR or Marcus Monk WR.

Really wanted Trae Williams from South Florida but we had no 5th round pick thanks to the idiotic Trent Green trade.


I personally think Hart will be a better NFL back.

I know what you're saying a DB or WR would have been nice but I think depth at RB is very Very important.

Watch what will happen to the Dallas Cowboys this year if Marion Barber goes down with injury. They are very shallow at that spot.

So my opinion on it at the time was oh well another back never hurts.

I just think we had better depth with Williams, brown and Cobbs at rb than we have at wr with three legitimate NFl caliber players on our roster.

Also in the NFL its much easier to pick up depth at RB than Wr. I mean look at Kevin Jones that just got signed, at WR there is very little out there.

Parmele will be the better NFL back but the real question will involve Lorenzo Booker. Booker had a gift for setting up defenders and making them miss in the open field and sometimes you really can use a guy like that. I don't care about his STs prowess or the fact they want to go bigger, there's always room for football players and I still think Booker was a football player but we'll just have to see what he does for the Eagles.

They seem to have this unwavering faith in our CBs...and I'm having trouble seeing it. I too would not have minded a CB but I would have been more likely to go with CB at Lex Hilliard's spot, not Jalen Parmele's spot. In Jalen Parmele I believe we got a heck of a back.

I wouldn't be particularly upset about passing on DeJuan Tribble. But, at Lex Hilliard's spot I sure would have considered either Safety Josh Barrett or Corner Wilrey Fontenot. At DE I would have definitely taken a chance on Brian Johnston. At WR you could have gotten your hands on Steve Johnson and I'd watch out for Steve to look even better than James Hardy as a rookie with the Bills. At Jalen Parmele's pick the only guy I'm staring at that really jumps out to me that went between Parmele and Donald Thomas...is WR Kevin Robinson. Well, some other guys (Brennan, Omon, Hayden, and Larsen) do kind of stand out but among them I like Kevin Robinson as potentially the next Wes Welker.

Being in Big Ten country I watch a lot of Michigan football including a regular dismantling of my Boilers, but They always seem to have the same basic team; big road grader lineman, decent to above average qb's and good but slow rb's.
