Does Henning use 2 TE sets or 3 WR?I just got to thinking, how would his hire affect our draft and acquisition of offensive talent. He likes a power run game, but what about his TE's do they really matter ala Chan Gailey. Or are we talking about one where they can realistically expect to catch 30 - 45 passes?

When he was with the Panthers they lined up mostly in two TE sets, but the TEs were rarely involved in the passing game. I think that was due to a lack of talent at the position since the Panthers haven't had a star TE in years. One thing is for sure, if you are a TE in this offense then you better be a great blocker. PERIOD.

I hope 3 WR we dont even have anything close to having 2 good TE maybe if we Draft Kellen Davis and Keep Justin Pleele then maybe we could go to the 2 TEs but for now we need to do 3 WR

He was the OC for the Skins back in the 80s when Joe Gibbs invented the H-Back position (not to be confused with halfback) which is a hybrid fullback/tight end position.
Something they came up with to deal specifically with Lawrence Taylor. I saw it mentioned somewhere that the H in H-Back was it being named for Henning who probably had as much to do with their coming up with it as Gibbs did. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H-back |
