Dolphins by the numbers

Checking the rankings for the offense and defense, the Dolphin defense ranks 4th overall in the league. They rank 6th against the pass and 10th against rush. By looking closer at those rankings you find the Dolphins rank T4th in TD's allowed thru the air. The defense is allowing there opponents to complete 61.3 % of the passes, which ranks in the bottom half. The rush defense is considerably better. There opponents are only getting 3.0 yds/att, that ranks 3rd in the NFL. But for some reason teams are trying to run more on this defense than pass.

The rush offense is attempting only 23.0 attempts/game. There are only 3 teams who are attempting less per game than Miami. They are however averaging 4.0 yds/attempt, that ranks T12th. If Murlarkey would call more running plays, averaging what they are per attempt the run offense would be ranked in the top 10.

Im a numbers guy myself and find those all pretty interesting. Its a shame a lot of people here talk about how bad our secondary is and how the defense is old. Truth is, if not for the problems on offense I thing everyone would be raving about our D. The Colts are undefeated, but have many issues with their rush defense. I can only imagine how their fans would be complaining if they didnt have such a great offense.

I like our defense, it just seems we always make mistakes at the wrong time,...pass interference calls, dropped interceptions, etc. I am more concerned about our o-line.

That's because you run the ball in order to control the clock when you have the lead.

Im sure the teams that we have played are not in the top 10 in any of those categories so that would be why we rank so high. Jets, Bills, Houston, Tennesee

Teams run on us, despite the low ypc, because our offense is not a threat to score. The opponents don't have any reason to risk the pass because our offense is so pathetic. And, teams are running because we are often behind.

Numbers.....

Look at the games man.

Miami never scores in the first half. Thats when the others are getting their leads. And most of their scoring drvies are very short because we give them such great field position. Its hard to give up a lot of yards when their arent any yards to give up. And as far as our run defense. Willis mcGahee ran all over us. Willie Parker ran all over us. Our pass defense. Ha! Ask Charlie Batch how good that is, and David Carr, Chad Pennington, and KERRY COLLINS!!.

Our team is not good on either side of the ball. I would rank our offense 31st only ahead of Oakland. And our defense 20th. The numbers are stupid and irrelevent.

Miami has lost to the Steelers, Bills, Texans, Patriots, and Jets.

Here is those teams records against other teams.

Steelers 1-3
Bills 1-4
Texans 0-4
Patriots 3-1
Jets 2-3

Now please try to convince me that the Dolphins defense isplaying like the #4 defense in the NFL after losing to 5 teams that have a combined 7 wins and 15 losses right now VS the rest of the NFL.

We need to play better, fast. How many INTs has our D created so far? 2? Wow, thats championship material right there. And I believe they were both against Kerry Collins in our only win.

For the sake of everything that is holy in football I hope that Miami beats the crap out of the Packers next week. This is the one game that I will be attending this season and I want to rub something in my Dads face after his packers lose. Please dont let the reverse be true. PLEASE!!!
