Eric Parker to be released Today

Quote:
The Chargers are expected to announce the release of WR Eric Parker today.

His agent has been contacting teams, and Parker is expected to sign with someone (Browns?) immediately.

My question is if we have first crack at him if we want him.

Good, keep him released, or with the browns... Not Miami

He does not go through waivers, we dont have first crack.

I think he'll be in Cleveland.

I don't know if he would be eligible for waivers because he is a 5 year vet. He may become a free agent instantly. Either way, I don't think he is that much of an upgrade to what we have.

Don't we already have 10 WR's on the roster? We need to address our secondary.

WAIVERS
The waiver system is a procedure by which player contracts or
NFL rights to players are made available by a club to other clubs
in the League. During the procedure, the 31 other clubs either file
claims to obtain the players or waive the opportunity to do so—
thus the term “waiver.” Claiming clubs are assigned players on a
priority based on the inverse of won-and-lost standing. The
claiming period is three business days from the beginning of the
League Year through the last business day before July 4, and 24
hours after July 4 through the conclusion of the regular season.
If a player passes through waivers unclaimed, he becomes a free
agent. All waivers are no recall and no withdrawal. Under the
Collective Bargaining Agreement, from the beginning of the
waiver system each year through the trading deadline (October
17, 2006), any veteran who has acquired four years of pension
credit is not subject to the waiver system if the club desires to
release him. After the trading deadline, such players are subject
to the waiver system.

agreed, this guy was not drafted and has really done nothing spectacular with his career. I know it would be nice to pick up a reciever but I'm happier with the group we have than add this guy.

Yes he has, he single handedly lost the AFC championship game for SD last year with dropped and fumbled passes and fumbled punts

meanwhile fin fans are still in denial

comon guys havent you been paying attention to the media , for they keep harping on ow crapy our wr corp is and i for one am not imprressed with our wrs at all . Now if they go out and light it up then i will ease up on the wr corp but the belief i have is that ginn wont be a star and hagen wont be all that good eith , for i just cant see it .
the football intuition tells me that our wr will be every bit as bad as it was last year. However , I should not let the media dictate how good these players are because the media does hate the fins and it is becoming clearer everyday.

i think Mauia , Slessinger, Brown and THE RICKSTER will be be great this year but we need our wrs to step it up.

SIDE NOTE iI WILL RETRACT ANY STATEMENT ABOUT OUR WR CORP IF THEY PROVE ME WRONG . FOR MIAMI'S SAKE I HOPE AM WRONG.

Will you retract your statement about Schlesinger considering he isnt even on our roster and wasnt on it last year either?
