Great upgrade? I guess some expect a FARVE to land in our laps. We're a 1-15 team. There alot of players who would be upgrades.

Hey boys, been a while. Hope all is well with everyone.
Chad would be a terrible fit for this team (bad OL, weak defense), but he'd be an excellent mentor for Henne. You could do a lot worse that sign him. Yes, his arm is shot, but he is still better than anyone else you have on the roster. Please don't take my criticism of your team personally. I don't say it to be rude, just stating the facts as I see them. I'm not here to talk smack. |

I am torn on this one. Beck and McCown have been average at best and yet Pennington is an average QB who had a good year last year.
I wouldn't be opposed to signing him and releasing McCown. We have to hold on to Beck and Henne. |

there is no draft pick or trade cost. He is an improvement over what we have now, he can be the bridge that Trent Green was supposed to be. THis was he buys us time to get one of the two QBs we drafted in the last year to be the next Dan M.
The only downside is a cap hit. but since we have a lot of room, this isn't an issue. Look at it this way-- no way do we make playoffs this year. Maybe next year we make a run, the third year out, We would have developed a long term qb and we should be able to make a SB run. |

Look, bottom line for me is that the Jets were awful last year, not 1-15 awful, but still awful. Chad Pennington, who everybody all of a sudden is in love with could not hold down a starting job there. He is 32 ,had arm problems, and a week arm to start with. He would seem to be a much better fit with a west coast offense type team that relies on short rhythm passing. I am not saying he is not an intelligent qb or a good leader, just take the whole package in perspective, in my opinion he just does not fit what this organization wants, ie young, strong armed qbs.

Pennington was dealing with a high ankle sprain last year. He's here, back in Henning's offense, so we'll see what happens. I could care less about what everyone THINKS about Pennington. If he fails on the field, then I'll pass judgment.
