Well before we deify BP lets get real. BP makes mistakes to. That said I believe he does know talent. BP and FO may think Beck has talent just not the type the want. Beck may not fit into the skill set they want. Or maybe they wanted to change his mechanics and weren't able to. But, at this point the Fins don't have the luxury of developing a QB. They want someone who who can play now. We will never know. I would be surprised if they keep him. I hope they do. Part of it is mental to. Notice how the WR tried harder and everyone play just a little better when Pennington came in. I think most rookies don't have enough respect of the team to lead. That has to be developed over time. Beck doesn't have that time. Oh, well he will get his chance on another team probably. I just can't see McCown as being better than Beck. Sorry I just can't.

Nice comparison. Except for the fact that you left out that Favre was 22 at the time and Beck is 27, giving Favre a much higher potential to turn his career around after that rough rookie season.

Lets not forget the fact that Ron Wolf, the man that saw enough in Favre to trade for him way back when, is buddy/buddy with Parcells and I'm sure has given his opinion on the subject to BP. We all see where the situation is going, so Wolf must not have given a glowing opinion of Beck...

Favre wasn't a HOFer when he was a rookie who in 2 games had 4 passes 2 Ints. No completions. So how is it a bad comparison? Had everyone given up on Favre the way some here have given up on Beck, Favre wouldn't be a HOFer today. I think it's a pretty simple comparison.

Well thats what u feel. One year later Favre had fairly high value across the league while the whole league waits for Beck to get cut. Nobody was wondering if Favre was going to get cut year 2 , while this whole board is waiting to see the result. So the coaches are to blame because they just gave up on Beck, maybe they were not crazy about what they saw.

It sounds to me that's what you hope, not what you know. If his value was so low, why would the Dolphin still have him? Obviously if he had zero talent, Miami wouldn't be able to trade him in hopes whomever got him, wouldn't know he had no value till it was to late. There is all kinds of film on Beck, if someone wants him it isn't hard to scout him, If Miami is trying to trade him they'll offer up the film on him. So it's not like Miami would be hoping someone will be dumb enough to trade for him without a clue about him.

Seems to me Beck haters want so badly for the guy to be worthless and off the team, so much so that they would be thrilled to see Miami get nothing for the second round pick they invested in him just one year ago just to say "I told you so". It's really sad, the fans that don't want Beck to be a Dolphin will look at 4 games and call him a bust, but If somone Like Favre or Young or Warner who developed later in their careers, the same Beck haters make exceptions and excuses for those players. It's very clear this Beck hate has nothing to do with Becks ability to play, it's personal.

truth is you ARE right, i guess we wont know how good he is untill he actually gets a chance to play.. but obviously he hasnt earned that chance here so that may say enough for us to pass on him..

Actually, I can only think of 2 guys that played well as rookies:

Marino,
Big Ben(he threw, what, 5 passes per game that year?)

Maybe that's why I never developed into a HOF QB...I was never given the chance...stupid life...I want to be a QB...where's my shot....WAAA-WAAA-WAAA. This year is all about Pennington. I don't care if we have Kermit the Frog backing him up...my hope is that we never need for another QB to touch the field.

Yea, it is a pretty big list. And Henne has just as good a chance of being added to that list as Beck does.

What happens if Henne becomes a Josh McCown or Joey Harrington and Beck goes to another team and becomes a Carson Palmer or Drew Brees?

As has been said before....there's no harm in getting rid of Mr. Journeyman and holding on to Beck. I would rather have 2 prospects on the team instead of 1 one prospect and a useless journeyman.

but whatever...the FO will have their decision in the next week. Of course, that probably won't stop these threads anyways. Chambers is gone, Taylor is gone, Thomas is gone and people still debate whether the decision was right or wrong. Beck will be no different, if he's gone there will still be people making threads to debate the issue.

The truth is until Beck is more proven you wont know if he's a good OR bad Quarterback. Why people fail to grasp this, i just dont get. This isn't people sticking up for Beck and saying he's the next Brett Favre or John Elway, this is people saying that until he's more proven you just dont know what he is.

Mike Holmgren and Ron Wolf took the gamble on a rookie Quarterback who played AWFUL in Atlanta because of his strong arm and mobility, attritbutes that they liked. A team will probably do this for Beck, whether he pans out or not, simply because 4 starts isn't enough to judge a Quarterback.
