Favre VS Beck

Brett Favre's rookie stats-- 2 games 4 passes 2 Ints. No completions.
John Becks rookie stats--4 games 107 passes 1 TD 3 INTs.

The truth is we have no idea how good Beck is or can be. Without experience we probably never will. Sparano is the man but never gave Beck a chance. 8 pre-season passes? Henne has a 59.0 quarterback rating this preseason and Beck has a 69.0 rating.

I'm actually pulling for Henne but it's BS for people out there to start saying they know Beck isn't an NFL quarterback. We still don't know. 4 games into an NFL career? come on.

What difference does it really make? Beck will never play a down for the Miami Dolphins now that the Chad's are here. That poor beaten horse...

This is an bad comparsim. Favre is a hall of fame Qb and Beck is on the bubble in Miami that has not had a good qb in almsot a decade

This is AN bad comparison? Atlanta got rid of Favre after his bad rookie season. It looks like Miami is going to do the same. My point is we still don't know how good Beck is. And thats AN fact

Here is another fact. Nobody cares about this subject anymore.

Favre was never a total puss in the pocket like Beck is.. I take Bill Parcells and the opinion of our well respected QB coach over those fools in Atlanta at the time.. And WAY over your opinion.

It's rather absurd to use Favre as an example as hundreds of young QB's stunk up the joint, got released, and were never heard from again.. How come you don't name the plethora of QB's that came into the league and amounted to nothing? Like I said, your argument is incredibly myopic and lame.

Good , so you obviously don't mind that Beck remains onthe roster!!!!
Parcells and the QB coach probably have a lot to do with that.
Let's hope he does well vs. New Orleans and doesn't take to heart any of the anti-even give him a chance OPINIONS of people on these sites

Good points : 1)QB Rating v Henne, 2)Hasn't been given a chance with this system

My guess is you raised the ire of some posters with your comparison to Favre(no relevance to this team)
Interesting that after 3 preseason games last year (same career landmark as Henne right now) Beck was 19/33 with 2 TD's and 0 Int.'s and a much better QB rating, and that was with a different O-line every week. No, if this was already over Beck wouldn't be on our team. With a little good luck we still could end up with 2 good young QB's.

That's far from an absolute statement. Remember Jason Taylor? He might technically still be "on" our team, but that doesn't mean it's not already over. I think it would be a pretty good and safe bet to say if Miami gets offered anything close to what they are asking for, this guy is out of here. Juggle all the numbers you want, there's a reason Pennington is in a Dolphin uniform and Henne is being groomed as the heir apparent. Probably wouldn't be happening if the Dolphin brass thought John Beck was the next Brett Favre.

Speak for yourself. Plenty of us including BP know exactly how good Beck is. ZERO. He is no good at all. In fact, he completely blows and really dosent belong in the NFL.

Cmon Wvdolphan, you are giving Beck way to much credit. Beck is less than zero, especially when he fumbles the ball away for negative yardage or takes unnecessary sacks. Just like the TD "throw" he made against Buffalo

And Johnny "Beck is my hero" IBT this is all you need to know about Beck as a Miami Dolphin. I know he did great at BYU, but if you kept up with his performance here, all you would need is this play to recap it:

Yeah, he's Manning/Marino/Staubach..Combined!

He just doesn't have what it takes to be an NFL Quarterback. People say he has all the tools, etc., but wasn't Ryan Leaf going to be the prototypical QB?
Akili Smith? Todd Marinovich? Tim Couch?

He's not going to start for the Dolphins, barring an unforseen set of cataclysmic circumstances.

Just isn't going to happen, and the sooner the Beck backers (whats left of their contingent) realize this, the better.

He's just not suited for this team. Maybe he'll go somewhere else and be a backup/fringe starter, who knows? It just won't be here.

I'm getting sick of these people just coming out of the woodwork with their endless John Beck threads. Go start a Beck Message Board.
