The following year Green Bay gave a 1st round (19th) pick to get Favre, because they intended to in the 91 draft, but Atlanta got to him first.

Now if you were a GM of a team, would you have traded a higher draft pick than was actually used to get him in the first place, to get him from another team after having a horrible rookie season? If you say yes...you are a liar.

I only bring this up though because it goes to show you one of two things, either A: Beck could in theory, make a remarkable turnaround and become a HOF worthy QB or B: some other team that still feels he has potential from his college days would give us a good offer for him, blaming his poor performance last year on a bad O-line, and inexperience. Either way though some good will come out of Beck.
Thats what i always think about when people say we should trade Beck. HIm turning into bret Favre and torching the league for years while the dolphins are still looking for that QB!

They've already given up on Beck. Giving him zero reps is retarded, but that's what they're doing.

I'm not bashing him. I like Beck the person. I like Beck the work ethic. I just don't think he will succeed in the NFL.. I hope I'm wrong. And if I am will gladly admit it.. But the odds are against him.. He already developed a reputation of having flimsy hands with the football and poor judgment in the pocket..

The hardest position in all sports to learn, play and succeed at and he's a bust because he hasn't walked in and become P.Manning already. AMAZING!!!!!

Now let's trade him for atleast a 2nd so that we can save all that salary cap space..... oh he doesn't hardly make anything. Well let's get rid of him because he wasn't drafted by BP or maybe cause he's old or fill in the blank yourself, let's just get rid of him.

Truely some of the worst opinions I've ever read, there's a 1000 QB's that needed 3-4 years to reach their abilities on the field ( a lot of great ones i.e. Young, Aikman, Farve, Hasselback, Romo etc... ) to every 1 QB that looked awesome right away.

Beck may never be good or great but to decide that now is like investing in stocks and crying your not a millionaire after 1 year, it just doesn't make any sense.

We do have the salary space, but not the roster spot...
Remember they want to keep both fullbacks, and are looking to keep 3 tight ends... We have plenty of other places where we can use depth like WR, LB, DB... and don't forget we may also have 4 RB's

He's not going to develop into anything if he gets to throw 1 pass in 2 days.

You are correct. But then again what the hell do ANY OF US in these forums know about scouting NFL players? Cam Cameron, who coached arguably the worst season in NFL history picked Beck. Don't you think the new regime looked at the tapes from last year, spent hours reviewing how Beck throws, how he handles pressure and a myriad of other things? Or do you think they just sit around in these forums posting conjecture and then making stupid decisions to hurt the team?

This guy is 27 and still needs to come around, we wait til he's 29 or 30 to come around? Late bloom, don't you think?

I'd rather ride this season with Penny, Henne, McClown...

That's fine but we can keep 4 QB's, there is no law against it. So he developes at 30 and plays for 8 more years. Don't get me wrong Henne looks solid and I like the pennington signing for now, I don't get giving up on Beck so soon.

I agree with you... Im not a Beck hater either, I want this guy to succeed and I want to be wrong.... Hell I hope he plays in the next couple of games and shines... but reality is harsh sometimes

By that logic, what does that say for McCown. Here is their FA QB pick and he didn't look as good as Beck on Saturday. And he got to go against the 3rd string.

I'm pretty certain the FO will make well thought out decisions for this team. My beef is with people wanting to give up on Beck already. QB's need time to develope, some need more time then others.

The way things are going if we cut/trade Beck Henne will be a bust and Beck will go on to be a great one. Just be patient it doesn't hurt us to keep him.

I don't want to give up either... but i am tired of false illusions and hoping on every QB... after Saturday I saw Henne at 23 look more poised and make better decisions than I've seen from Beck...

I want this thing to turn around and if Beck doesn't get it together soon, he has to go!

the only thing that scares me if we trade beck and he becomes tom brady, parcells would be kicking himself u know where.

I would give beck the preseason to see what he has. we know Henne and Pennington will be there and most teams carry three qbs. Also I agree that last year was a bust, it should be tossed. Cam was forced to start beck and he got eaten alive. he wasn't ready.

if he is trade bait, nothing less than a 4th rounder.
