Penny wants to kick some slimy green NY Jet butt in week 1.
A chance to start. A chance to make the Jets look bad. A chance to work with Henning again, who he is familiar with so there is no new offense for him to learn...... Coming to a place where he is truly wanted (Parcells drafted him and wants him back).. Staying in the AFC East playing against defenses he knows like the back of his hand... Coming to a good running game with an improved O-line with some solid backs.... He will have another "Chad" to mentor.. Some nice weather, nice girls in so florida. Probably it's all just too much to pass up..

Well Armando said in his blog we were being real aggressive about getting. It could be that the six teams interested in him were just doing due degligence. I think he is a Dolphin by Sat.
I have been reading some of the JETs blog about their practices, Well Penington had only thrown 2 INTs to CLemens 8 INTs. Penington had clearly beaten Clemens and was gonna start the Pre-Season game they played tonight. I have been paying alot attention since this unfolded. Mainly because when the offseason began a group of of us discussed the possibility of Chad coming to the Dolphins.

Think maybe McCown starts against Tampa and if he does poorly Pennington is in practice Monday while McCown cleans out his apartment? It would be the only logical explanation I can come up with from McCown to start instead of Beck.

he worked w/ Henning in his rookie year, he's been in a different system from '01-'07. Chad is smart and will pick up any system as quickly as possible but it's not an advantgae to have been the 3rd string QB 1 year under Henning almost 10 years ago.

Definitely nice perks to come to Miami....Boat in your backyard, beautiful weather, beautiful women (at least look at them if he is married)....
......As I understand from reading in Sun-Sentinel and Palm Beach paper online, Southern Florida has Spiny Lobster (Bug) season right now. How can you possibly not like that. Lobster on the grill sounds pretty good to me.Bringing Chad here is not going to hurt us. We will have a Captain to right the Dolphin ship while we rebuild. |

Bringing in Pennington would bring us a legitimate starter for the first time in years.

Bringing in Chad is a win win for all, including Chad. If he becomes a Dolphin he gets the chance to start right away. He is smart and a good leader, he will more than happily take the kid under his wing and teach him how to be a pro QB. If He gets a three year contract and plays well the Dolphins can either play him while grooming the kid or trade him for some value. If he plays like crap he will still be a leader and mentor for the rookie. How can you lose with a class pro like that. Take a chance! Bring him in and give him a chance to start! He will be so motivated from the start with the season opener against the Jets. Chad loved the Jets orginization but he wasnt happy with the fan base. A victory over the Jets in Week 1 how sweet.

Honestly, I am not a fan of Pennington. I don't like immobile, noodle arm QBs with an injury history. His weak arm is going to take away Ginn's strength as a deep threat for us. I sure hope he can throw accurately on crossing routes, because that is the type of game we'll have to play if he ends up winning the starting QB job.
But on the other hand, if I were a betting man; I would put some money down on the dolphins for that home opener vs. the Jets. Having Pennington does give us an advantage of learning the Jets plays and signals (they would be stupid not to change their signals if he signs with us). Anyway, we will know a lot about them, and they will know very little about us, since we have a new regime. Any advantage counts at this point, especially against a hated rival.

What I don't like to hear is that his arm is a lot weaker after all the shoulder injuries/surgeries he's had. I personally don't want him in Miami.
