MERGEDX2: Laveranues Coles upset with Pennington release/Option here?

He seems to be real close to pennington. Does anyone know how many years is left on his contract. Miami may be appealing to him if hes a free agent soon. He was unhappy even before Chad got released. Any thoughts or ideas?

Could Coles be the next Jet in Miami ?

Quote:
There’s a widespread belief in NFL circles that Jets receiver Laveranues Coles is upset about the decision of the team to trade for Brett Favre and to abruptly cut Chad Pennington. Indeed, there were rumors on Thursday that Coles had left the team hotel in Cleveland after news broke that Brett was in and Chad was out.
But we’ve yet to hear from Coles. And we’ll have to continue to wait to do so.
I just need some time,” Coles told a member of the team’s P.R. staff regarding whether Coles would talk publicly about the situation.
Due to a hamstring injury, Coles didn’t play on Thursday night and didn’t finish practice on Saturday. Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News offered up this interpretation of Coles’ body language during Saturday’s session: “Toward the end of practice, Coles stood alone on the sideline, away from his teammates — unusual for him. Clearly, something is bugging him.”

Apparently he seems very disgrunted with the organization and is a bit banged up. David Clowney and Jericho Cotchery looked good during their pre-season game, so it make you wonder if maybe just maybe the Jets release Cole, cause of the possibility of becoming a lockerroom cancer.

Just a thought that is all.

I know he's very close to Pennington and heard about him leaving the hotel. Interesting tidbit.

u tube link of Coles and Pennington at Pennington's football camp. Chad is going to be a great mentor/coach. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7oG6A3Pws0

WOW! that's a very interesting thought, Coles is good friends with Pennington, the kid can make that that big catch, I really doubt they would cut a good reciever like him, we'd have to trade for him and that's not going to happen any time soon, so I'm not keeping my hopes up on this one.

If Coles was to get released and there might be a chance the Tuna will be all over him. I dont think we are done signing players. The contract given to Pennington is an incentive beased contract and he cam rather cheap. I see us trying to bring in more players to help us not an abundance, but I dont think we are done revamping this team.

i doubt Coles will get released. traded is a possibility tho. it appears as tho hes very unhappy that Pennington is gone. rumors are he left the teams hotel the other night when he found out about Chad leaving, and i read somewhere that in their preseason game he separated himself from the rest of team, kinda sitting by himself and such. Pennington is now here and we do have huge needs at WR after what we saw last night (as if that was a surprise?) i wouldnt doubt something slowly brewing here if Coles continues to be disgruntled. and i wouldnt mind it either. having a connection like Pennington to Coles for a season or two while the rest of the team develops might be a good idea.

Coles can become a detriment to that team, or they can trade him over here. Either was it works for us.

Im expecting the Tuna to make a splash at WR next. You see alot of the steps Parcells has taken remind me alot of what he did in Dallas. He signed Penington and that reminded me of when he got Bledsoe to go to Dallas. He took KEyshawn and Glenn to Dallas. So Im expecting him to get a reciever. I now they are saying now Terry Glenn wont be a Dolphin, but after this game you gotta upgrade at the position.

He's been angry for the Jets for a while, a lot of that came from his contract issues. But i dont see how losing Pennington in favor of Brett Favre could make someone angry. I mean i know he and Chad had chemistry and bonded maybe even were friends off the field, but Brett Favre is Brett Favre and even though he's no longer the same player he once was, he's still better than Pennington. Why would Coles be angry? This is why i dont believe the crap PFT puts up.

The fact that Coles is upset about Pennington being gone over Favre speaks to Pennington's strength as a quarterback.

i think it speaks more about their friendship than of Chad's talent level. i think the guys an alright QB. hes led that team to a playoff appearance or two, but i think Coles is more upset because their good friends. kinda like if they laid off ur best friend at work for some new guy that does his job better and twice as fast. just cuz u miss ur friend doesnt mean u think hes better than the new guy.
