You guys are panicking. We have no official word yet and lets all remember how lackluster Porter played last year except for the last few games. I dont think we'd be losing that much besides a has been Line Backer that is just average now. More cap room means bigger free agents.

No way we can throw out the 3-4 either its worked to well this pre season and it hasnt been because of Joey Porter.

I'm glad you know! Hopefully Parcells and Ireland know this before they try and go after the 6-4, 245 pound pass rushing beast who is ONLY a junior! Can you at least try and contact miamidolphins.com?

What is the deal with Brinkley? I swear I saw on the NFL Network ticker he had been released by a team, but did he even come out this year?

I was informed by a poster on here hes not a 3-4 olb. lol. I actually threw his name out the other day as one next year, and I agree with you he would be nice to have. Ya, 245 is a tad light to play 4-3 end if thats indeed an accurate weight for him.

That's very weird. I'm sure a majority of the people who are familiar with Selvie probably believe he can make the transition without too many problems. Time will tell, but as of now my hope is that we can get him during next year's draft.

Also, quick question. If he did indeed retire, would that mean he gets his 20 million? And if so, would the money go towards this season's cap, next year's, or would it be spread out over a couple years? Thanks in advance.

he wouldnt retire, he would want to get paid. if he retires due to injury i think he would get an injury settlement, if not paid in full, if he retired when healthy, then i think the Phins are off the hook. Joey Porter isnt walking away from his money, that i know.

After reading this thread, why is it between hoping he'll tough it out for the opener and a career threatening injury? Seems like there should be a lil bit of a gray area in between those two options, no?

Im not sure about him getting the money. Ricky was forced to pay back his bonus. If he did get to keep it though I believe the remainder that was not already paid out goes us against as one lump sum next season. Someone please correct me if im wrong, but i think thats how they do it
