Miami\Pats vs Tampa Bay

After watching us use our backup QB's on Tampa and now watching the Pats use their backups, I'd say we had the better game, the Buc's are killing the Pats, plus they had the longest drive on the 1st drive against the Pats #1's, using their 1st offense with their 2nd QB... Maybe we have improved, since this is the pats 2nd game, I expected them to play better after losing to balt. last week.

Thanks for the comparison. I was thinking that game could be a good barometer of last weeks performance.

No doubt we have improved, however, don't read too much into a preseason game. The Pats have never been overly talented, but they scheme well and have find players that can play their scheme.
The Giants showed cracks in the Pats O-line and this has been shown again against the Bucs.
I also think the Pats secondary will be a liability.
They are certainly beatable if you can establish a clock eating running game and shutdown their running game. Maroney is a nice change of pace back, but clearly he's not a workhorse.
I would take RW or RB over Maroney any day. For that matter, I think our O-line has much more physical talent than the Pats' they just need time for the young guys to develop. The pats play better as a unit, but that won't last too much longer.
Our D-line also has the potential to be almost as good, but deeper than theirs.

It's preseason so I typically take this stuff with a grain of salt.

But I see that the entire Jaguars team are basically acting like Miami just killed their puppy. I can't believe how depressed they are about this. They must think we're the worst team in the league. Guess we made an impression on them.

With out Brady, the Patriots are a 6 win team. It's good to see the Bucs drive it right down their throats on the opening drive.

Like CK said, we need to take Preseason with a grain of salt, on the other hand, 2 weeks in a row Miami's 1st team defense has looked lights out against two pretty good 1st team offenses.

I tell you one thing....the Pats Defense is very beatable. It appears you can run on those guys and there secondary will be weak. I am going to love seeing Ricky running against that team. The game plan against them will be to get ricky and ronnie 20 carries each and bust them in the mouth!

I don't know, I was using the games as a measure of improvement for the phins, I still don't think we're in the Pats class, but I'm hoping they take us for granted and we have a chance to surprise them...but we must remain healthy the whole season, our backups are suspect to me, even our 2s at this point..

I know we are a better team than people are going to give us credit for in the preseason....but watch when the season start how all those experts and analysts start jumping on the wagon saying they are not surprised. We will not be paying the 1st round pick a whole lot of money in April 09.

That's because Miami hit them in their mouth. Thier D Line from last year is not all that altered. They played their first unit a while and we man-handled them. Preseason or not, they felt inferior to a 1-15 team. That would depress me too.

BTW, we were on a live chat watching the game Saturday night and some poster had some choice words about you. I forget who the cat was though.

I wouldn't go that far. I'd say with Matt Cassell they're terrible. However, he wouldn't be their #1, and only because of poor planning is their #2. How have they not drafted Brady's successor yet? A lot of NFL QB's would love to have Moss/Watson/Welker and co to throw the ball to.

One thing you failed too mention is the way the Giants never gave Brady an extra second too throw. He was under extreme pressure constantly and lost his concentration.

That's probably because the person was a little jealous of the time and energy CK puts in research and his posts... CK is a good source of info for the boards, I've enjoyed my debates with him, even when he's gotten mad at me..

But it's a great give and take... and that's what the forum is all about, great exchanges, with the bottomline that we'll all phins fans..
